Re: Tracking photos sent via the internet

Sorry HH..don't mean to redirect the thread, but a lot of posters are questioning about the little font. Hope it's cool. Geotracking is an important topic..glad you posted this. Smiley Happy.

For illustration purposes only, I'll add a "$" so you can see the code without iPad inverting it to Code. REMOVE the $ to have it work, okay? There are 2 codes for each action...one to start & another to end.

Paragraph, start = <$p>

Paragraph, end = <$/p>

Bold, start = <$strong>

Bold, end = <$/strong>

Underline, start = <$span style="text-decoration: underline;">

Underline, end = <$/span>

Italics, start = <$em>

Italics, end = <$/em>

Hard to read the OP's post, but can't help feeling it's directed at a specific poster.

What are you talking about? It was simply to open a discussion about this topic not being as safe as people think it is.

Happy housewife, this is an excellent article about how to avoid geotagging. Not all cameras do it, most late model cell phones do and if yours does it can be disabled. Read on.

i usually take photos with and send them with my tablet. i'm sure it does tag them. generally i either am sending to FB where i have my privacy settings very high or to a good friend or family e mail. I also don't have kids in my home to worry about.

I was very surprised at how quickly my friend had tracked those photos and how accurately. He says it is only a 4 step click of the mouse.

I doubt anyone thinks it is "safe"...at least anybody who knows about technology- No one is EVER "safe" danger is always lurking, but does knowing where a picture is taken necessarily make anyone LESS safe?

Re: Tracking photos sent via the internet

I was considering posting a photo on here because my friend got to go to the Academy Awards. I wanted everyone to see her in her beautiful dress. I did some tracking before I posted it though and found it tracked back to her exact location on google. Needless to say I didn't post it.

I may be a bit more tech savvy than some, but doing this is and has been relatively easy to do.

Re: Tracking photos sent via the internet

There iare programs and apps available that can remove the geotracking info from photos. If this is new to you, and you already have some wonderful pics that you want to be able to share, you should look into getting one.
