@VanSleepywrote:Uh oh. I just recently bought three different people Babies R Us gift cards.
You'd better enclose a note suggesting they use the cards quickly.

@ValuSkr- or call them. If there’s a full liquidation/chapter 7 announced, I wonder how long they’ll honor gift cards.

I stopped going to Toys R Us years ago when it seemed all they sold was junky plastic stuff. I think they've since improved but I've found some very nice, smaller, independent toy stores. I'd rather give a quality toy that will last rather than a plastic piece that will be tossed aside in a week, and given to Goodwill in a year.

so loss of jobs is no loss how would you like to be one of the workers.....Amazon undercuts companies takes a temporary loss and forces other companies out of business...
If market dominance means fewer competitors and less innovation, consumers will be worse off and prices will go up!!!.
So you can guarantee that those people will find other jobs....yah right, I know several people that got laid off professional people with degrees various occupations and they all said the same thing...all that is out there is part time jobs...and we are in a state that is supposed to have a lot of job opportunities..
Consumer welfare has been the foremost concern of U.S. antitrust law since the 1980s, with price hikes seen as the surest sign of monopoly power. Yet a growing chorus of critics complain that Amazon is becoming too dominant, snuffing out competition, innovation and impacting wages....Anti-trust laws may be in their future....
@Spurt, well said. I am a huge bricks/mortar advocate. It is a sad day to think we humans will be constantly sitting at home, doing the “click&send” thing, never getting out to interact around other people via shopping, etc. I feel terrible all those TRU employees who will be out of work, especially those close to retirement & aren’t so marketable anymore.

Just another reason I don't purchase from Amazon. They are destroying brick and mortar stores and jobs!

Of course it’s no loss to you. You don’t care about people losing their jobs. You even posted in the fashion board you want to fire the stylist that clothed one of the hosts. Thank goodness you were never a co worker of mine. You have a heart of stone. Pretty sad.

Isn’t Claire’s from malls also closing?

I agree!
When my son was little, it was a great way to see and experience the toys. Just ordering off a website doesn't really give one a true look at what is being offered.
He was always excited to just go and look, even when we weren't buying. Walmart was great for that too, but didn't have as much stuff.
I don't like seeing brick and mortar going by the wayside. I have to wonder if, at some time, the pendulum will swing back, and traditional retail will see a resurgence after people get tired of getting so much stuff online that doesn't meet their standards, and wish to return to traditional shopping.

I agree loss of jobs. We aren't going to have many stores to shop at.
