Yet another retailer hurt by Internet shopping. They will reorganize, and likely close some stores.
Here's the link to the article in Business Insider:

Just heard that on Today. Always hate to hear probability of people losing jobs. Concerning.

Yes, retail is really hurting. As for Toys R Us, my husband brought up a good point. Kids, even young ones, are more interested in video technology than in old fashioned toys. That may be one of the many reasons why this particular retailer is in such trouble.

I had a really bad experience with them via their store pickup several months ago.
I placed a large order to pickup toys at my local store in an hour. They never responded until about 5 hours later when they offically cancelled it and said they didn't have the toys in stock even though the website said they did.
And I know they had stock because I had just been to the store the day before and thought I'd swing by and grab everything I had decided on on my lunch hour. Never again.
Even if someone had come in and bought them out of what I wanted, (and I doubt that since most kids are not into regular baby dolls anymore) you can tell me that in the hour you are supposed to have everything ready. Instead I went to Walmart and Amazon to buy what I needed.
Businesses just can't do that to people in this day and age. If you offer store pickup in an hour, you need to offer store pickup or a reply back within that hour if there is a problem. If you can't do that, take the option off your site.
Completely ignoring a customer who has literally handed you money and is just waiting on you to say come and get it is unacceptable and will bankrupt you every time. It's a shame flat out poor management is costing more and more people their jobs.

I had a similar issue with Toys R Us this past May...the website said our local store had a battery operated jeep in stock. It was for my grandson's birthday.
We took him to the store - I had a 15% coupon and on Thursday's if you have their Credit Card you get an additional 10% off...On a $449 item these discounts add up lol..
We the item was NOT in stock even though the website said it would be ready in an hour. My grandson was broken hearted and cried his little heart out ..there were only a couple of these cars made that are large enough for a five-year-old.
The manager got snippy with me saying I misread the site wrong and it did not say it was in stock nor that it could be ready in an hour. I said it most certainly did. I can read.
Well we took my grandson back to the car to regroup and see what he wanted to do..order the item and not have it for his birthday or choose another item.
We go back in..the Manager greeted us by the battery cars and said that she wanted to make right and she checked they have ONE car in stock that would fit him..she would match the price of the other car ($50 bucks difference) and in addition give me an additional 20% off on top of the other discounts. I left paying less than half..so she made good. I think when we went to the car she must of looked up the item on the website her self and noticed that I was indeed telling the truth.
Win/Win for us all.. he got his car for his birthday the next day and we got a fantastic price that nobody else could even come near.
Toys R Us will price match Amazon and Walmart and I do it often on Thursdays - the day they give card holders an additonal 10% off.

That's to bad. When I'm looking for a specific item they always have it there when all the other stores won't.
When one of our gk have a birthday we can just go there and pick something up.
When our son and his wife were both in collage and had no money, they would have a huge sale before Christmas and they could pick up toys for the kids.
This is bad news for us.

I heard this morning that they are filing Chapter 11 and closing some of the "slower" stores.
I hope that they keep our store...it is usually busy when I go in....
