Medium - not too large. Need it small enough to wrap around my head to keep my hair dry in the shower. If too thick, takes too long to dry. Agree about thinner washcloths.

I love the Bamboo/Turkish towels from Cariloha. They are soft & absorbent. I also wash them after each use.

I like big,big towels to wrap up in. Costco has wonderful medium weight bath sheets.  I launder after two uses.  I live in a dry climate and towels dry quickly.

Most heavy thick towels made today simply don't dry the body, in my experience. And the super thick washcloths take forever to rinse the soap out of, and become a pain in the shower.

I like the big thick towels to hang for 'looks' in the bathroom, but prefer an old fashioned feeling and performing towel more in the medium weight/thickness.

Many of today's towels are simply useless in my opinion. They don't dry you off, and they pick and snag from the first washing, leaving lint all over the washer and dryer ( and heaven forbid you wash anything with them).

My older towels from the 1970's and 80's still perform better than the new stuff I've tried in this last year (and I've tried a whole lot of them).

I prefer the large bath sheets in medium weight looped on both sides.  I never use a wash cloth, but my DH does.  He will not use the real thick ones and perfers thin to medium weight.

i wash the bath sheets about 2-3 times a week.  We change hand towels and wash cloths every day.

During the summer months, my "top of the line towels", that were purchased at Penny's, are put away.   They are thick, super absorbent, soft and do not "shed" in the dryer.

I do not use them in the summer as the humidity does not allow them to dry quickly. I do not want wet towels hanging around as they may turn "sour" before they get washed.

For the the summer months, I use very thin, Turkish cotton hand and bath towels. I love them!  They are just enough to do the job and they dry very fast.

Both sets of towels are washed in warm water, no fabric softener.

I have four sets of Martex towels I bought years and years ago.  They are perfect in size and thickness, not too big and just thick enough to dry nicely.  Martex does not make those anymore and I won't buy the ones they have on the market today.  I saw a review recently where the purchaser said if you are looking for your mom's Martex towels they don't make them anymore, today's are scratchy and rough.  I immediately thought of myself as "your mom's towels" because that is what I have, perfection, love them.  One other thing I can say about them is that they are as beautiful and usable as they were the day I bought them, talk about quality, these can't be beat.

I've been using those heavy BIG towels that I bought at Costco for my shower every morning  - some are 20 yrs old and still kicking. I use them one time -- and in the wash they go. I also keep a small hand towel in my bathroom - and change it every day. I also have a large lightweight towel on my towel rack in my bathroom - and wash once a week - as I don't use it much.

I love Turkish peshtemal towels.  They are 100% cotton and thin.
