I put them in the same category as push-button start on cars. Why mess with a good thing? I never had a problem pushing a flush lever and never had a problem putting a key in the ignition to start my car. Had a rental last week while my car was in the shop. Every time I got in the car I feared it wouldn't start. And then you have to repeat the process to turn off the engine (and I feared I'd forget and leave it running!). Ah, technology.

I like technology and gadgets, BUT, you are so right. I had to get a new car after 12 years. Technology is supposed to make things easier right??? Well not if you have to read a manual over an inch thick. I still can't figure out how to open the trunk from inside the car. I did read the manual instructions. The button for the sun/tilt roof is confusing as is the operation of the windshield wipers. Its been over 6 months and I still have figured out if I can load more than 1 CD. More gizmos, more to break.

What happens if the flusher does not work? Is there a manual override. Does Toto make the System you are looking at? You may want to look at a Toto product.

Thanks, but I don't want a Toto toilet.

One of my cars has little icons in the control panel. If one lights up, I have to get the manual out to see what it means. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Do the "brains" need electricity or battery power to work?

The touchless "box" which sits inside the the tank runs on 4 AA batteries.

So what happens when the batteries die, and you're out of replacement batteries and have to go to the store? Your toilet won't flush until the batteries are replaced? Give me a regular toilet anytime. That could be lots of fun at parties though, invite some people you don't care for, take the batteries out of the box, then wait for them to use the restroom. {#emotions_dlg.devil2} Awkward!!! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

There is an audible beep when time to replace batteries.

I ALWAYS have tons of batteries on hand....never run out.

There is a manual override.

I don't invite people I don't like to parties. {#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

Great! So when the smoke detector and the carbon monoxide detector want new batteries, they can all beep at each other!

Okay then, I wasn't trying to be mean, just enjoying a bit of "toilet humor". Good thing you ALWAYS keep tons of batteries on hand, literally. Sounds like too much bother to me, but to each their own... Kohler makes lots of fantastic toilets, enjoy your touchless one. Smile

Thanks Jules5280. I haven't made up my mind yet. I never knew there were so many choices or prices for toilets!

Oh, I'm sure you've already made up your mind, just like everyone else who posts, asking for opinions. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}
