I have to admit I don't think I would have quit, even though I would have felt guilty. Tom Colicchio mentioned on WWHL that he wanted to make it clear that none of the judges expected or thought Nick should eliminate himself (even though the question had been posed to him).

He also made it clear that he thought Nina had been consistently stronger than Nick throughout the season, but they had to make the decision based on the final meal. It seems most people know Nina was the better chef during the show, and although it su*ks that she wasn't named "Top Chef," I think she will have many opportunities. I loved her personality, talent/skill, and I felt early on that she would probably win. It's too bad about Stephanie, but it sounds like she and Nick are really good friends. She is another person I really liked. Shirley, too.

ITA. On WWHL, I'm sure that you will agree that it seemed he did feel VERY guilty about what happened with Stephanie. Like you, I would have felt bad, but stayed too.

I was a Shirley fan. For some reason, I did not care for Nina.

Watch What Happens Live was interesting last night. Nina was very gracious and her outfit was a killer.

Re: Top Chef Finale (spoiler alert)

Ugh! Yeah, after last week's episode I just went in and deleted my upcoming recording for the finale. I had no desire to even watch the finale at that point.

IMO, the two who were eliminated last week should have been in the finale. Nothing against Nina, but those two were my pick for the top two at that point. Since they weren't, I was rooting for Nina because I cannot stand Nicholas. But I had a feeling he'd end up with it because it seemed like he was this season's chosen one. But I didn't even want to watch. I found out on another board who won and was actually kind of sorry I even looked.

Anyway, of course, I don't wish him ill-will but I think others were better not to mention nicer people Smiley Happy Good thing I'm not a judge.

I was disappointed in the decision, too. That person was my least favorite of the final 4. I know not everyone agrees, but I think they should factor in overall performance for the run of the show when they make the final choice.

If they did that, he wouldn't have won - she won more challenges than he did through the competition but they should consider the entire competition when it comes down to the final two.

I'm still shocked Shirley didn't win. I thought she had a lock. I suppose that should have been a clue that she wouldn't win. These shows never end up true to the edit.

Yep, I do agree it seemed he felt bad about the whole thing.

Darn those edits! ;-) I kept going back and forth between Shirley and Nina throughout the season, but ultimately thought Nina would win. I really thought Shirley was going to at least be in the final two.

ITA. As soon as I saw Nick was in the finale I had no desire to watch. I watched Nashville instead and enjoyed it more!
