It’s funny how we have to walk on egg shells when talking about things like this for fear of being ridiculed for not “living in the now.” You’re just being a smart shopper.  Every year I go on a major vacation for two weeks in July.  As soon as I return from that vacation, I begin saving money and making purchases little by little to prepare for the following year’s trip.  I’m very capable of “living in the now,” but I also enjoy being organized and spreading out how I spend my money.  It also gets me excited every time I make one of those little purchases or put money into my vacation account, because I enjoy my travels so much.  To me, life is much more enjoyable when “living in the now” is well balanced with preparing for the future.

Living in the "now" doesn't work for me.  I have to plan or the "now" is chaos.

I appreciate all of your comments.  For me, Christmas is about the birth of the Christ child.  I know not everyone agrees with that, and that's OK.  I feel that the commercialization of the holiday takes away from why we celebrate in the first place.

In our home, Fall decorations stay up until the day after Thanksgiving.  From then thru the beginning of January Christmas decorations are up and Christmas music is playing.

I fully understand the position of retailers trying to sell their wares;  however, I don't have to like it.  Sorry if some were offended or annoyed by my post.  There are some traditions that I believe are worth preserving.

I am also Christian but I don't feel the need to complain about how other people celebrate or decorate.

If you can complain about anti-QVC Christmas presentation posts, then she can complain about pushing the Christmas holiday.

You and I don't have to watch QVC shows or buy at stores.  And we don't have to lecture other people on what the holiday is about or how it should be commemorated.

She wasn't "lecturing," she was giving her OPINION, which she said she knows others may not agree with and that's okay.

I think this is the fourth anti-QVC Christmas presentation post we've seen recently.

I'd rather see a Q Christmas item than another rant about them.

@Noel7

Christmas is my favorite holiday, but I also don't like the way retailers skip over autumn/fall/Thanksgiving...and I think the customers are the ones that keep the Halloween celebration alive or the retailers would prefer to skip that too...now a days you see Halloween stuff along side Christmas stuff............

Having said all that ---With QVC, the Christmas items are a welcome sight and change from the same ole repetitive and boring products QVC shows all the time on the weekends---the same ole vacuums, bed, mattresses, It Cosmetics, Argan Oil, and computers (and electronics havent sold well for years but they keep on showing them especially on the weekends)..I don't mind a few Christmas shows here and there, it helps me plan and budget......However, once the host gift shows come rolling in waves and waves  (and all the host select the EXACT SAME GIFTS-too much repetition) This just makes me watch and buy less from QVC-they are just too monotonous with their programming...QVC has a way of making me turn the channel........LESS IS MORE QVC!!---AND DONT FORGET FALL!!...Woman Frustrated.....

Nothing wrong with picking up gifts early especially if you have a big gift list helps with the ole budget.  But when local stores start putting up Christmas decorations in July so when Christmas rolls around you are actually sick of it all......And with QVC I think they could limit the shows a tad....they used to do them just on the 25th of the month (starting in July or then maybe choose one weekend a month for the Christmas shows)....but QVC doesnt know the meaning of oversaturation and that's what spoils it and leaves out the fall season/fall celebrations.......(whats ironic is fall is the longest decorating season but they dont take advantage of it)....

I shop throughout the year for Christmas.  When I see something that is perfect for someone, I buy it.  I have no problem with buying early.  I just feel that the market is saturated and it is all about getting your money first.

What about the magic of Christmas for the little ones???  When they see the stores all decked out so early, it takes away from the season.  Yes, I'm sure some of you think of me as a dinosaur.  But, I remember when the little ones would see Santa arrive during a parade, when the Christmas music started, when the wonder of seeing the Christmas decorations was reflected on the faces of children;  it was a very special time.

As I said before, I am not lecturing or whatever.  I stated how I felt!!!  For those who feel the need to attack or to be nasty.....No need to reply.

Perhaps if everyone remembered "Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Everyone" our world might be in a better place.

I rarely buy Christmas gifts for adults.  Little kids change their minds so often that I wait until December to buy for them and keep my fingers crossed. 🤞🏻

@grandma r I understand what you're saying, and there are people I am very close to that feel the exact way you do.

I start shopping for Christmas the week after Christmas. By this time of the year I am finished, except for stocking stuffers and I've started on those as well. I love being finished with that part early, because I work a lot of hours and as the holiday season rolls around (starting with Halloween) I like that the little bit of free time I have can be spent doing whatever. Hay rides out in the country, the fall carnivals, short trips to the mountains...things I thoroughly enjoy. Smiley Happy

Christmas, and the reason for the season, are extremely special to me. Retail stores will never take anything away from that, even if they put Christmas trees up year round! Just like real life grinches that don't care for the season at all....that's fine too. It won't change the joy I feel each time the holiday approaches. I hold it near and dear to my heart, and nothing is going to alter that. I hope you don't let it change your love for the season either. Christmas is magical, beautiful, spritual. Heart

One of my favorite quotes comes from " A Christmas Carol", spoken by the ghost of Christmas present. I love the movie made in 1951; my all time favorite. I wish I could share the entire quote, but part of it would be considered religious.

I have a small family so small list. I agree that I always wait until December to shop for the younger family members, and get suggestions from their mom as well.
