I can recall being jealous of the neighbor girls my age that got to wear those pretty bride dresses. Of course they were outside and we could see them wearing them.

I still have a small gold cross ny Great Aunt gave me after church when I was only 4 years old.I had a first communion in 8th grade after confirmation. I had a gold bracelet engraved with the date given to me as a gift and we went out for dinner. We were to fully understand the eucharist

It then went to 5th grade and now 3rd grade for first communion. Grape juice option. I asked why and was told to keep children interested at a younger age.

@Enufstuff The fact your veil was handmade by the French nuns is so special. Even To it's veil is similar to yours.Thank you for taking the time to share your doll and background.

So beautiful and precious your Toni is @Enufstuff .  Her dotted swiss and veil so reminds me of the dress and veil I wore.  My Godfather also gave me a sterling silver cross adorned with very old fashioned marcasite. I am 71 now and still have my cross pendant.

What a very spiritual and loving ceremony to be welcomed into God's arms at such a young age for little girls and boys.

Your Toni is lovely.

@Enufstuff, Hello my old and dear friend!  I am back after after many scenarios I had this past year.  I will not bore you with all my health adventures, etc.  It made me quite depressed, and I decided I must give up looking and posting here.  I did much reading, and watched so many educational channels on our cable tv.  I am a Leo, and like a wounded lion, I crawl back into my lair when not well.

But, I am back!  Missed you, friend @Kachina, and so many folks here.  Yup, I will be turning 80 in August.

I marvel at you, and admire you for so many reasons.  You are so brave, positive, and so super talented!  Really a marvel!

Your beautiful work and picture of you as a precious little girl bring back memories.  I have pictures of me in my outfit standing before a statue of the Blessed Virgin.  I did attend a Catholic girls school for high school.  Very strict, but a great education.

I am so very sorry for your health issues - and that of others here who are also facing such challenges.  You all handle issues with such grace and dignity.  I pray for all who need help.

I do miss my friends who are now living so far away, as well as those who have passed.  I have missed being here.  I have just really updated my wardrobe, crazy to many I bet, to encourage me to be positive and look ahead.  But I have been cleaning out and giving jewelry away.

I do hope you will forgive me for leaving this board for so long.  You are so special!
With all my admiration and best wishes!  And I hope @Kachina also reads this!

@Enufstuff

My goodness, I am sorry you are dealing with all you wrote about.

I had just gotten near the top of the stairs and felt weak.  Go figure!  The next thing I knew, I was feeling the stairs!

I will be using the deck door from now on.

BTW, I'm allergic to latex.  I used a Playtex Living glove to wash dishes while I had a rash from soap on my arm.  The latex was on the rash.  I was allergic after that.

I feel ok today, but dealing with purple shoulder (bruise).

Keeping you in prayer.

Hi @SportyShorty07   Hope you are doing ok.  I know it was tough, but wherever you land career wise, I am sure you will excel. Please try to stay positive.  You are so kind and sweet.  There are better plans out there for you.  Sorry to hear of some depression, I know you were devastated at the news off not getting the job, but read so many positive comments in that thread. Please take care. Most ladies here are SOOOO positive and kind here, and just want you to be happy whatever you do.  You have so much to offer and kindness in your heart.  Love hearing your cooking, baking and make up conversations.  You are someone that anyone would love calling you daughter, sister or friend.  Take care!  Hugs (((❤️))).

@lynnie61  Thank you so very much for your kind words, it really means a lot to me Smiley HappyHeart.  That thread truly showed the greatness and kindness in the world and helped me so much to read page after page of such supportive, loving, compassionate comments- I am so grateful, truly thankful for the time you and everyone took to write such heartfelt comments when I didn't get the job.  I'm going to go to Kinkos to print the thread so that I have a physical copy of it.  I really am so glad that I found the QVC forums.

Life is so full of curve balls and I won't let this get me down in the long run- i'm walking tall and marching on.  Some days I tear up or feel sad about it, but then I turn the day around and have a great day. I'm so grateful for the support from you and everyone and my family..  I'm now going to make the most of these 2 years until I can reapply and I'll try to pursue creative employment or even become my own employer and try to publish books I'm illustrating or make my own dessert baking business. You are so kind to say that someone would love to call me a daughter, sister and friend.  I think the same of you! You are a lovely lady with a really great heart and mind and I enjoy reading your posts too! Smiley HappyHeart

Enuffstuff, I agree with all you said.  It seems special events in some people's lives are down played in comparison to what we experienced.  I am sure your girls looked beautiful in the dresses and head pieces you made for them!!!!

My late best girlfriend and I always used to say we wished the Latin mass would return.  We adapted to the changes but it wasn't the same feeling.  Maybe people would say that is old fashioned and obsolete but to each his or her own.

I am glad to hear that the children are in white again. I think that has happened in my area also.  I do have to say the Commiunion dresses are quite fancy now , much more than what I wore.  I do remember vividly how happy and special I felt that  day and all the people who came to celebrate my Communion.

@PamfromCT   My dear sweet Pam,

As I live and breathe, I could not believe it,

when I saw that you are back here and posting.

This is the best birthday gift ever. I hope that you are well, now.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having such health

problems. Hopefully the worst is behind you.

Last year, I did not post much when having my share of issues. I'm so glad that 2023 is behind me.

It is tough to get older and have these things to deal with. In our youth, we took good health for granted.

I was so worried about you, when you stopped posting.

I knew that you were seeing a cardiologist. Many here were concerned also, when your posts went missing. We all missed you.

I feared that we would not hear from you again. I'm so

happy to see your posting today. I missed our lovely and looong conversations.

Many people here will be glad to see you posting again.

Like you, I did a lot of reading, crossword puzzles and watching documentaries.

Only in recent months, have  I begun to get my creative

spark back again. I started by posting some of my winter, then spring poetry and then I wrote a parody song, based on "Super Freak" by Rick James. It is titled "Super Freak" by Rick Manx and I posted it in Pet Lovers, a couple of months ago. It was fun to write, simple amusement in my old age. I laughed while writing it.

My cat Katie, was my muse. I posted a picture of her also and that is titled "Very Frisky Girl". When we hadn't heard anything from you, I worried about Winston and wondered if he is okay. I hope that he is well, thriving and spoiled as all cats should be.

Then I made a pair of earrings using Aquadite ( a newly discovered stone). I posted a picture of those in Jewelry.

Last month, I finally began sewing again, after almost 15 years. I posted a new Spring Green dress on one of my Toni Dolls. I guess my spark is back now, as I'm making poodle skirts and blouses for three Toni Dolls and will post a picture when they are done. I have plans for a few more dresses.

Last year, I posted Toni in different outfits, from old pictures from 15 years ago. Many here seem to enjoy seeing them and little stories that I make up. Like I said, simple amusement in my old age.

I still don't go out much, mostly just Dr. appointments

and few trips to Joann's for sewing supplies. I mostly shop online and have groceries delivered.

Have you been venturing out or done any creative projects? I would love to hear from you again, if you feel up to it.

Pam, I have to tell you, you have made my day and my week. I am so relieved to see you are well enough to be posting again.

                         Take care.  Love,

                                                Donna
