Yes very funny thread.   Always "over" for me as that's how my mom made us do it when we were kids.  If we hung it backwards she made us fix it, LOL!   Some things just stay with you....  Same thing with paper towels.

ITA.  Over makes it much easier to grab the exact number of sheets you want to rip off ....  if that matters to the person ripping.  Maybe some people just grab a bunch and improvise?   I have no idea.
