People are gonna have to come to grips with this. He's still not innocent. Things have to be done by the book. When they are not they can come back to bite.

I'm hoping someone smarter than me can help. I'm far from a legal mind but I don't see how this is true. I do understand that Cosby wasn't exonerated due to his innocence but by a technicality saying he was denied the right to a fair trial. Can a person be convicted of a crime without a fair trial? Seems unlikely and as I understand it's why his conviction was overturned.
If all the above is true, how can he still be considered a multiple s ex offender--legally speaking? I don't think he can. In fact, I just read he won't even need to register as such.
OK, I'll take your question slowly! Can a person be convicted of a crime without a fair trial? Yesssssssssssssssssssssssss. yyyyyyEEEEEEEEs.
People are wrongfully convicted all the time. There are groups that take on the most egregious of cases and they are called the "Innocence Project."
Do you honestly believe every single person who sits in jail right now is actually guilty of the crime that they are there for? @SusieQ_2 You don't believe mistakes can be made in our system of justice?
He wasn't denied a right to a fair trial. He was not supposed to go to trial based on the promise and deal he cut to incriminate himself at a civil trial. No person can be made to incriminate themselves. That's why they shut up and get a lawyer to talk for them.
Wow, did you ever take my post wrong! I wasn't saying it can't happen--my point was we don't allow it to happen when we know about it. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania saw to that!
And yes, he was denied the right to a fair trial based on exactly what you said--he wasn't supposed to be tried at all!
Next time may I suggest you take it even more s l o w l y? ![]()

Really? You asked if someone could go to jail without having a fair trial. I am flabbergasted. @SusieQ_2 . Ok, whatever you meant to say, didn't read the way you may have wanted it. Cause, yeah....it happens.

Apparently you flabbergast quite easily, lol. ![]()
In case you missed it, the "someone" being discussed in this thread called "...ruling in the COSBY case" is one person and one person only. Anyone else's case is irrelevant to this conversation.
I would venture to say there's not one person posting here who thinks every person ever convicted has received a fair trial and I would also guess the great majority are also well aware of the nonprofit organization The Innocence Project. Although, just like all those other folks who haven't been given fair trials, they're all meaningless to the topic at hand.
