I have mixed feelings on this project. It would depend on the kid I guess? My youngest granddaughter wont eat turkey (due to pitying it). So this project may bug her. She does however eat other meats so something must have happened for her to just pity the turkey?

Anyway this Thanksgiving project was cute when my daughter was young. They made big turkeys in school (with feathers and all) out of construction paper and then wrote a short essay inside the turkey as to what they are thankful for.

I still have it and hang it up every Thanksgiving season. My grandchildren get a kick out of it being it was their moms when she was young.

Oh for Pete's Sake.... These are little guys and none of you have any idea what led up to the little essays or what followed them. Vegetarians? In my 30+ years of teaching I never had a single one in my classroom. In fact, I never heard any teacher say there was one in their room. I know one in real life and it has nothing to do with the usual reasons: she does it for health reasons and would love to have a steak or burger every now and then.

Lighten up folks.

I agree! I think they are responding to the poster and not the content...

I can assure you that I responded to the project itself, not the poster.

it's different... but if the kids remember it and enjoyed it, that's what counts.

Sorry but the project sounds like a bad idea to me.
