It started snowing here about 3 hrs ago. My daughter left work about an hour ago and she works about 30 minutes from her house. I worry because I don't want her stuck on the road for hours and hours. She is pregnant but had a gall bladder attack in the last 2 weeks. Her surgeon wants to wait until after the baby is born. I don't know why but I keep worrying she will have an attack on her ride home. I guess I am just worried over something that probably won't happen.

I am sure she will be fine, does she have a phone to stay in contact?

She just called me. I tried to call her a couple of times and she wasn't answering, she was letting her phone charge. She is fine, I am just being a worry wart. She has only gotten 5 miles in a little over an hour and she is just now hitting the beltline. She will probably be stuck until about 6 with how slow it is moving. Thanks Jannabelle,

Has anyone seen kitty posting anyplace????? Hope she hasn't lost her power.....

Have been watching the weather channel.....and it ceases to amaze me. They have been warning folks for a couple days now about this coming.....and have been telling folks to stay off the roads, and yet, there are some folks that seem to think they can make it to where ever they are going. Yes, many have listened and have gotten everything they need in case it did happen. My hat off to those in the Atlanta area.......

Don't understand why the folks in Charlotte are out on the highways......they are in a mell of a hess...... It is going to get worse......

Not everyone has the luxury of staying home.

I never said they did. Would wager you that all of those folks weren't going home from work.......that being said.....

Please don't you start on me today. I saw your post the other day, and I ignored it.

Re: To Our Posters In The South

I'm in East Tennessee this week! A wee bit 'o snow this morning, now a very messy, slippery mix of ice, rain and snow.

Prayers and positive thoughts going out to everyone in the path of bad weather. (((Irshgrl))) please let us know how your daughter is. Hope everyone else can check in, too.

Not everyone can stay home -- although many businesses and most (maybe all?) schools closed in anticipation of the storms, many did not.

BTW: Please remember the people who go out in the bitter cold and dangerous weather to help us all, the emergency teams, the people who are restoring downed power lines, the crews clearing the roads and removing trees that have fallen, etc.

Hi dBd.......good to hear from you. We still have snow on the ground and some areas of the parking lot here at the apartment complex, and yes, I still have quite a bit of snow on my car and around it. Not risking getting out there to get it off the car......

Yes, they have said many business and government places were not open today, and may not be tomorrow either.

My heart goes out to all who are out there working to keep everyone safe, and to those that are trying to restore the power.....And think....they have to get those huge trees out of the way before they can get to the wires......

Re: To Our Posters In The South

Hi, ShowMe! Thanks! Always good to "see" you.Smile

About the people who work to restore power lines... I'll always remember the night the tornado hit our neighborhood, the speed with which the power crews arrived, and seeing the people up on those utility poles even while the storms were still coming through. And the Red Cross and the fire department emergency team appeared just as quickly. Can you imagine how their families worry about their safety? I think (I hope) I was appreciative of them before that, but that experience will always remain in my mind.

You are 100% correct Jannabelle. Who thinks anyone wants to be out in terrible weather? Nobody but most people work for a living. They don't just sit home and complain about the weather, they are in it, dealing with it, surviving it.

Thank you, new poster,lol......right, most people don't get paid if they don't work, and can't afford to lose time, so yep I do think the majority are working folks, who would much rather have stayed home in their jammies by a roaring fire.

I worked for over 50 years, and have earned the right to sit at home.......and I spent many an hour going to and from work in that stuff too. I know what it is like to be out in it..... And there are many of us old folks at home that have to be sure it is safe out there for us to go get what we need too. We too survive......

When I see these extreme weather conditions on the news, I think about the people I know who live in the states being hit. And that includes my forum friends. I'm amazed at how you all seem to persevere. I'm always impressed!
