Re: To Our Posters In The South

I woke up at about 2:45. The freezing rain has started.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Good Luck to everyone. Check in when you can. Stay warm and safe and inside.

Big concerns about power outages tonight in NC.

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

Re: To Our Posters In The South

Well we're hunkering down here in South Carolina.

We have freezing rain right now, all of the local bridges are closed, police are telling everyone to just stay home. If we lose power, we lose power, nothing we can do about it.

All the schools and universities are closed here and in the surrounding areas, businesses are closed. My daughter's doctor's office is closed today. I feel for people who really have to go in to work..police, fireman, hospital workers, and the power company people.

We have candles, batteries, food, wood for the fireplace, that's all we need.

Everyone be safe.

Just saw the morning weather news, it sounds like it's going to be pretty nasty stuff. Hope everyone in it's path stays safe and warm. Spring can't come soon enough.

Re: To Our Posters In The South

Yesterday our area was scheduled to get 16 inches of snow and the ice more east of us, but today it's down to 9 inches. I can handle snow but this storm worries me because it is supposed to be very wet snow and that means tree limbs will be pulling down power lines. I'd be more surprised if we don't lose power than if it were to stay on,, but we'll see.

About 4 years ago the weather patterns have changed such that a generator is pretty much required around here now. I bought a portable one for just such storms but trust me, I'd be happy to never have to pull the thing out of the garage to run it. Stay safe.
