Re: To Our Posters In The South

They just reported on the local news that agencies from across the country are sending help for power outages predicted for Georgia and South Carolina and other states affected.

What can I say except....gosh darn it....GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Have the iPad and cell phone fully charged. Hoping not to have to use any of them. We have food and plenty of firewood. I lived here (Atlanta) for the ice storm of 73. I was a senior in high school. We were without power for 7 days and never left the house. Stay safe everyone.

OMG, GIDGET....oh yeah, I remember that one....living in Augusta. We still talk about that to this day.

We are ready -- I think....

I have heard there are power trucks/workers here from Florida to help when needed.

Hey you, get off of my cloud...

Ice is nothing to play with, I'm so glad that people had adequate warnings and also that the states stepped up and are now possibly avoiding another highway catastrophe.

Again I want to emphasize that I'm hoping all is well with you in the affected areas.

Please stay warm and safe. Check in when you can.

Fingers crossed the power stays on.

Thanks dmod. I've got my battery operated TV I ordered from HSN years ago (also comes with a DVD player).....and candles, flashlights, plenty of food .....

I've even made coffee and put it in my refrigerator. I have a gas stove so I can warm it up because I do not like instant coffee.

And blankets galore.....as long as my little baby shih ztu is warm, we'll be fine. I'd do without anytime of the day as long as she is safe & warm.

Ooh, they just announced winds along with the icy rain/sleet of around 20 mph. Okay, now I'm getting a little skeered! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Check your TV to be sure it works. Since the change to digital TV a few years ago you need a cable/dish hookup or antenna and DTV box to receive. At least that's how I understand it. If I'm wrong about that let me know. I'll get a battery TV too!

And from Ohio I think PD.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

My little tv is digital. Works great. Runs on regular batteries. We pick up the local ABC, CBS and Fox stations. Can't get it to pick up the NBC station.

Re: To Our Posters In The South

Today I saw an interview from people on the streets in Atlanta. Most people had said that they had stocked up on necessities. One woman was asked if she was getting prepared for the storm. She said no. She wasn't buying anything to get ready. The guy asked if she was already prepared. No, I'm not getting ready.

She's probably one that yelled the loudest a few weeks ago.

Stay safe down there.

The TV I have in my guest room has to have that DTV box, plus antenna, but the newer one I have in my bedroom only needs the antenna. I got this TV from the Q.....it is a Haier. I really like it a lot......
