I was born and raised here, still live here. Some beautiful things to see but summers are beyond brutal!

this past summer was especially brutal. I have never liked the heat...but this was the worst...I think what 30 days of 110 or more.

And total rain this year was 3 inches.

I think this was the hottest summer and fall ever...for the state. I know other people love the state....I'm just not a member of that club.

Smithsonian is one of my favorites ... I love their Ariel America series, and now I see they are doing European countries!

BTW .... Smithsonian has a great daily email newsletter!

Although I'm sure Arizona has hot air balloons, too, I believe you're thinking of New Mexico and Albuquerque's International Balloon Fiesta every October.
