@colleena wrote:@gertrudecloset @Trinity11 I had been having skin issues (itchy, burning, red) for quite awhile so went to a new dermatologist who said that many soaps can be too much for one to wash with daily & especially for young people. I was surprised that she said to clean private parts daily if needed but otherwise showers every other day or even less often depending on what's needed.
That sounds quite sensible to me.
I'm older and don't run around getting hot and sweaty any more. I do shower every day and I always clean the...ahem...areas that must be cleaned but other wise I just enjoy the warm water. My dermatologist was very glad when I told her I use Dove soap, since it's pretty mild and doesn't have harsh ingredients.
ETA: After I had joint replacement surgery, it was too much of a hassle to wrap myself up to take a shower, so I used baby wipes to clean off with. I like being clean and those things really kept me from feeling grubby and funky.

Well now that we know about everyone's hygiene..........
Sebum-the skin oil - does not degrade or deteriorate or go rancid on its own.
Oils such as cooking oil do become rancid.
Skin cells, dirt, etc. will attach to sebum but this skin oil is a natural moisturizer with some anti-bacterial properties.
As far as whether one bathes everyday or not, *shrug*.

My human biology professor told me something I will never forget ... the "waste elements" coming our of your pores is the same chemical compounds as urine.
A few times I have walked by people in stores who definitely practice saving soap or personal wipes. Please people... just bathe!
I totally agree !

@gertrudecloset - Your initial post was purely about what celebrities indicated they do regarding the use of soap and water to bathe. Your follow up was about what non-celebrities have to say on the matter. I have no idea what you do, personally, and that is truly none of my business.
I find regular bar soap, that doesn't contain harsh antimicrobial chemicals in it, to be important for hand and body washing.
We are all germ-laden, all of the time. We are literally infested with bacteria and viruses both inside and outside our bodies (with more microbes inside and outside our bodies than cells in our bodies), and those microbes need to be kept in balance.
Perhaps, if we all used a copious, daily amount of warm soapy water on our entire persons, not just our hands, but our heads and faces, too, we would all be in a better place right now. I don't think that now is the appropriate time to be cutting back on the daily use of regular bar soap, and I don't think any celebrity or non-celebrity (and I am not talking about or referring to you at all when I write this) should be promoting the idea of not using soap on a daily basis. That's just my personal opinion based upon what I have read on the topic:

@Jersey BornI don't care what celebrities or others do about copious amounts of soap or if they lack soap. Hey, you never know who your rubbing elbows with before Covid. Unless we have intimate knowledge of others we come across then there is no way we can know for sure what their hygiene is until they stink.
Celebrities are humans. I used this article as an example for discussion about bathing, not about "celebrities who do or don't bathe." I have no vested interest in whether you or anyone else bathes.
