I always tip because I am grateful for the service they are doing for me and making my llife easier and better.

NOTHING. You don't need to tip the installers - at all.

Nothing.  I only tip when something is done as a favor or out of the ordinary.

@Love my grandkids It's not at all a "tight wad" attitude....It's just wrong to feel compelled to tip everyone! The installers are paid a salary and it's not the person's job who is receiving the service to give them more money. No bad values here.....just common sense and decency.

We always tip installers. The smile and the thank you are worth it.

@89135

My husband and I had the same discussion today. We had a new furnace and water heater installed. It took all day (8 AM - 6 PM). And they had quite a crew to remove the old furnace and water heater.

My husband offered to buy lunch for them. They refused.

So my husband and I talked about giving them a tip. But since they refused lunch we weren't sure what to do. But as we talked, the crew was ready to leave and wanted the final payment. So my husband just wrote the check and they were gone in a flash. Didn't have time to dig out any money. So it was decided for us.

@deeva @Movers are different. Tipping is expected for the crew. Of all the service persons I've had help, I have given movers the largest tips.

I would tip more if they haul off your old stove, don't scratch or break anything, and do more than plug it in.
