Re: Tiny Black Gnats Invasion

But, maybe don't do this if you have a septic tank. Ok for city water folks though!

Re: Tiny Black Gnats Invasion

THAT! I purchased a box of septic enzymes (Rid-X) from Lowe's a few months back. Come June, I suddenly had an invasion of little black/brown bugs in the bathroom the box was in. The exterminators did not figure out the issue. I finally noticed bugs crawling in and out the bottom of the box. I took the box outside, cut into the top all the way around and lifted it off. To my shock, it looked like an ant farm in there! I immediately threw the box in the outdoor trash and started manually trapping the bugs and dropping them in soapy water until there were no more bugs. Apparently, they may have been drugstore beetles. And, you have to get them all or they infest something else and continue to procreate. I sure hope I got them all. I will only be purchasing liquid Rid-x from now on, OR always store the Rid-X powder box inside another sealed container. As many bugs as there were in that box though, I do not want to risk flushing those eggs into the septic and have them come back through the pipes somehow. So gross!

I put clorox water down the drain and spearment oil on my list.  Auto correct has chenged spearment to specimens twice.

Do you have any plants or flowers in your house?  Every time I have flowers or plants, I get these.  I gave up having plants in the house.  I tried the vinegar in a bowl siran wrap over it and several other things but nothing really worked.  Can you try spraying a solution of chlorox and water down the drains every night before you retire?  Maybe that will help.

Take your dish soap and mix it in a small bowl with apple cider vinegar, cover the bowl with tight Siran Wrap type of cover. Take a fork and in 1-2 areas poke carefully through the wrap.  Set it down and walk away.  By the next day, you might have 2 doz. or more, depending on how much you have been invaded.

Good luck.

@AngelPuppy1

I have always had plants in every room and only last year and this year got gnats. My neighbors, even those without indoor plants, have gnats. I think they're coming in on fruit. At least, so far, I don't have Lantern flies.

I knew what meant and so did you. I suspect auto correct changed it.

Given the choice, I choose outside turds to inside gnats, not that I'd request either.

The most common animal poop to be found on your porch is likely to be bat, mouse, rat, frog, raccoon, opossum or skunk.
