My mom used Tide when I was growing up and I used it for many years. I now use Nellie's (Amazon & HSN)...it smells so fresh & clean! Love it!

Hopefully, it won't happen to you. My husband has lost his sense of smell and taste. The specialist said it was something that happened sometimes with age. He was in Vietnam while they sprayed with agent orange and has had several unexplainable ailments that the Dr.'s claim is due to age.

@Georgiagrama To anyone that responded to this post. 3 years ago I developed a rash, that was everywhere at different times. I was also using Tide. I never had it on my face, but I also didn't want it there. I switched to Dreft which is for baby clothes, but it works. I wash my sheets in it, and that in itself helped a lot. Now I use it for my pj's and underwear. Three years after battling with this rash it is gone. Someting to consider and it smells good too.
I think sometimes our systems change and can tolerate less then in our youth. I also do not use bleach in anything and even cut out the fabric softener. I hope you can find something you like. I didn't think the Tide was cleaning as well either. I use Gain for Jeans and things like that. Good Luck!

I remember Dreft from my baby diaper days. Yes, I used the cloth diapers with my children.
I think you could be right about our bodies becoming more sensitive as we age, but I am also thinking of my granddaughter who is super sensitive to everything.
I always liked the Dreft and the way it smelled - fresh and clean - even with diapers.

If your clothing doesn't smell fresh any longer after being washed, I'd look to the washer, not the detergent.
I add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of borax to every load I run through my old top-loading machine and it keeps the washer fresh and helps clean the clothes. The washer cleaners are expensive and waste water. The borax does the job with a boost to the clothes cleaning and is cost-effective, IMO.
The other thing is I always run my laundry through a second rinse cycle to make sure all the detergent, etc., is removed. I never, ever use a liquid fabric softener.
I use Tide Clean Breeze (liquid) and it works for me.
I never liked the smell of the original powdered Tide, which my mother used for everything, including washing dishes. For housecleaning, I find the powdered Spic and Span an excellent cleaner with a nice fresh scent. It's especially good for things like walls and woodwork. You might find it's a good substitute for powdered Tide in that application.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do like the Original Scent Tide, and, I do use Borax when I wash my husbands outside clothes so I'm fairly certain it's not my washer. I also have run just a clear wash with vinegar occassionally just to keep my washer clean.
There has definitely been a change in the scent for the Tide Original, and I think in the composition.

I use Tide Free and Sensitive. I have never had a problem. I use the same with Downey. I use bounce in my dryer. I use woolite for delicate items.

May I ask if the scent is a fresh, clean scent without an artificial scent added in? I mean is it a fresh clean detergent scent or a detergent with perfume scent?

I've used Tide for years too, but I have disappointed lately with the cleaning power, along with clothes not smelling clean. I'm definitely changing detergents the next time I purchase. Why waste money on Tide when I can get better results for less? Many have pointed this out to me lately.

Get my detergent at Dollar Tree. 65 oz. for $1.00. Our clothes are clean and smell good.
