We are not always what we ought to be or want to be, but through God's love
we are not what we would be without Him. Lord, thank you for raising me to
heights in this world that alone I could not reach and for giving me eternal
life in
the next.

Scripture for the day:

"So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its
own. Today's trouble is enough for today." ~Matthew 6:34

Meditation for the day:

Its best for us not to think of the Red Sea of difficulties that lies
ahead. We can be sure that when we come to that Red Sea, the waters will
part and we will be given all the power we need to face and overcome
many difficulties and meet what is in store for us with courage. We can
believe that we will pass through that Red Sea to the promised land, the
land of the spirit where many souls meet in perfect comradeship. We can
believe that when that time comes, we will be freed of influence of
material things and find peace.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may face the future with courage. I pray that I may be
given strength to face both life and death fearlessly.

Hello my friends! It got cooler out again, today, but still nice. I picked
our lettuce, from our second seeding, very good lettuce, I still need to
wash and spin dry it, but thought I'd get this thread out first. Our
cantaloupe is very tasty, and we have quite a few. Wish I could share,
beautiful red peppers! He planted some snap peas a couple weeks ago, that
would be great to get some of that yet before a frost. Today has been busy
dog-sitting for Ollie as Lori has so much work hours and gone tonight until
8, so she called to see if we could take care of him, said he was acting so
weird, like not wanting her to go, being so sad by the door etc. that after
she called me, she put the harness on him and he was a changed dog - so
happy to come here - his second home! He comes again on Saturday as she's
got Girl Scouts in the morning at her house and not sure how Ollie would be
there then, and in the afternoon she's going canoeing with friends. But we
have plans in the afternoon, so he'll have to be home alone then. Blessings
today - dogs are getting along better, played ball outside with Ollie (tied
up with long rope) and he loves it! That I don't mind since he brings it
back to me and drops it for me. Another little blessing, got another bout
with bladder infection this afternoon, and I'm glad I saved 3 anti-biotics
so I can use them now. Got two more to use up and I should be fine again.
Praying for all of you for all your needs, and thanks for your prayers for
us.

~THIS IS JUST A RESTING PLACE ~

Sometimes the road of life seems long
as we travel through the years,
And with hearts that are broken
and eyes brimful of tears,
We falter in our weariness
and sink beside the way
But God leans down and whispers,
"Child, there'll be another day."
And the road will grow much smoother
and much easier to face,
So do not be disheartened -
this is just a resting place.

MOTHER'S PRAYER TO THE GUARDIAN ANGEL OF HER CHILDREN

I humbly salute you, O you faithful, heavenly Friends of my children! I give
you heartfelt thanks for all the love and goodness you show them. At some
future day I shall, with thanks more worthy than I can now give, repay your
care for them, and before the whole heavenly court acknowledge their
indebtedness to your guidance and protection. Continue to watch over them.
Provide for all their needs of body and soul. Pray, likewise, for me, for my
husband, and my whole family, that we may all one day rejoice in your
blessed company. Amen.

DEVELOP THE RIGHT (SELF) ATTITUDE
Author Unknown
Jun 20, 2009

Here are 10 suggestions to help you develop and maintain a healthy
self-image. Read them slowly. Meditate on them regularly.

1. Hate your sin, but never hate yourself.

2. Be quick to repent.

3. When God gives you light, walk in it.

4. Stop saying negative things about yourself. God loves you and it's
wrong to hate what He loves. He has great plans for you, so you're in
conflict with Him when you speak negatively concerning your future.

5. Never be afraid to admit that you've made a mistake and don't
always assume that when things go wrong, it must be 'my fault'.

6. Don't meditate excessively on what you've done, right or wrong;
both of these activities keep your mind on you! Center your thoughts
on Christ.

7. Take good care of yourself physically. Make the best of what God
gave you to work with, but don't be obsessed with your appearance.

"Hugs Are Warm"

Hugs are nice
Hugs are ways
To break the ice
If you send me a hug
You won't regret
I'll hug you back
So you can't forget!
A hug is just a way to say,
I love you in a special way,
To tell that someone special,
I care about you in every way.
When you shed a tender tear
a hug is sure to be near.
When you're trembling in fear
a hug will come from someone dear.
Wrap your arms around someone near
In your hug is the circle of life.
A new beginning to an endless day
A ray of hope to light your way.
Take a hug and pass it on
don't save them up it can't be done.
Share them with family and friends,
share them whenever you can.
A hug will make you "aahh"
A hug will make you "oohh"
A hug will make you smile
A hug will make you feel great.
A hug lightens up your day
A hug throws away your loads
A hug strengthens your ties
A hug makes you feel important.
A hug is harmless
Stop! Take a break!
It only takes a little of our time
Why not share a hug?
We all need a hug, don't we?

Send it to someone you care about.
The Ticket

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55
zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only
partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some
other car will tweak his backside with a mirror.

The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob from church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse
than the coming ticket. A Christian cop catching a guy from his own church.
A guy who happened to be a little anxious to get home after a long day at
the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow. Jumping out of
the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in
uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess."

Bob seemed uncertain. Good. "I've seen some long days at the office lately.
I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit-just this once." Jack toed at a pebble on
the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight.
Know what I mean?"

"I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our
precinct."

Ouch! This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy-one. Would you sit back in your car, please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely
nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car."

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it
shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window. The
minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad. Why hadn't he asked for a
driver's license? Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before
Jack ever sat near this cop again. A tap on the door jerked his head to the
left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand. Jack rolled down the window a
mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice. Bob returned
to his car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack
unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost? Wait a
minute. What was this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket. Jack began
to read:

"Dear Jack,
Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You
guessed it - a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man
was free. Free to hug his daughters. All three of them. I only had one, and
I'm going to have to wait until heaven before I can ever hug her again. A
thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I
had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. . . Pray for me. And
be careful. My son is all I have left. Bob"

Jack...twisted around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the
road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he too,
pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a
surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care.

He Has Not Forgotten You

He Has Not Forgotten You
When the bills pile up
and troubles come your way
You may start to worry
How can I make another day?
Nothing seems to go right
Life can seem so unfair
That's the time to bend those knees
And bow your head in prayer!
He has not forgotten you
and He never will
He's waiting for you to realize
You need Him in life's ordeals.
The world is full of trouble
Lots of worry & woe
He wants you to remember
with Him you've got somewhere to go.
When things get out of hand
as they often do,
Always remember
He has not forgotten you!

Feast of the Holy Name of Mary

Feast of the entire Latin Church, celebrated on the Sunday within the octave
of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. It was first observed at Cuenca,
Spain in 1513, then extended to the universal Church and assigned to its
present place and rank by Pope Innocent XI in 1683 in thanksgiving to God
and the Blessed Virgin for the liberation of Vienna and the signal victory
over the Turks on 12 September 1683. It is the titular feast of the Society
of Mary (Marianists) and of the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary
Immaculate.

HOW TO SAVE YOUR CHILDREN THROUGH THE ROSARY

During one of the cenacles which Fr. Gobbi gave in the United States, he was
urged by many concerned people to ask Our Lady specifically what could be
done to save the youth from the seductions of the world which were leading
many of them astray and causing them to leave the Church. Our Lady gave Fr.
Gobbi this definite and final solution to console the parents who are so
concerned about the salvation of their children:

* Pray the Rosary
* Everytime you pray the Rosary, say: "With this Rosary, I bind all my
children to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for her guidance and protection."
* In doing so, Our Lady promised "to see to their souls."

Having such a powerful weapon at our disposal, we must make use of it to
save our youth! Let us bring all her children, young and old alike, into the
refuge of her Immaculate Heart!"

8. Never stop learning but don't allow your education to become a
point of pride. God doesn't use you because of what's in your head: He
uses you because of what's in your heart.

9. Realize that your talents are a gift, not something you have
manufactured yourself; never look down on people who can't do what you
do.

10. Don't despise your weaknesses they keep you dependent on God.

Prayer Against Malefice
FROM THE GREEK RITUAL

Kyrie eleison.
God, our Lord, King of ages. All-powerful and All-mighty, you who made
everything and who transform everything simply by your will. You who in
Babylon changed into dew the flames of tile "seven-times hotter" furnace and
protected and saved the three holy children. You are the doctor and the
physician of our soul. You are the salvation of those who turn to you. We
beseech you to make powerless, banish, and drive out every diabolic power,
presence, and machination; every evil influence, malefice, or evil eye and
all evil actions aimed against your servant (. . .) where there is envy and
malice, give us an abundance of goodness, endurance, victory, and charity. O
Lord, you who love man, we beg you to reach out your powerful hands and your
most high and mighty arms and come to our aid. Help us, who are made in your
image; Send the angel of peace over us, to protect us body and soul. May he
keep at bay and vanquish every evil power, every poison or malice invoked
against us by corrupt and envious people. Then, under the protection of your
authority may we sing, in gratitude, "The Lord is my salvation; whom should
I fear? I will not fear evil because you are with me, my God, my strength,
my powerful Lord, Lord of peace, Father of all ages."
