Talent is the ability to do easily that which others find difficult.
Lord, help me to recognize and value the abilities that I have
been given and use them gratefully.

Scripture for the day:

"Peter approached Jesus and asked him, 'Lord, if my brother sins
against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?' Jesus
answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times."
~Matthew 18:21-22

Meditation for the day:

When we call on God in prayer to help us overcome weakness, sorrow,
pain, discord and conflict, God never fails in some way to answer our
appeal. When we are in need of strength for ourselves or for the help
of some other person we can call on God in prayer. The power we need
can come simply, naturally, and forcefully. We can pray to God not
only when we need help, but also just to commune with God. The spirit
of prayer can alter an atmosphere from one of discord to one of
reconciliation. It can raise the quality of thought and word and
bring order out of chaos.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may bring peace where there is discord. I pray that I
may bring conciliation where there is conflict.

Hello my friends! Praise the Lord! We had a really warm day here today -
and I picked lots of raspberries, lettuce, and cherries again, and even had
our neighbor come over to pick some too. It's so nice to have enough to
share with others - I love that! It got me to have some nice quality time
visiting with her. Thanks for posting at least 3 blessings that God has
given you yesterday - keep doing it because guess what? God never quits!
What an AWESOME God we serve!! If you read more on the last thread I
mentioned about meeting our new priests after Mass today - what a joy they
are already!! I'm going to invite them over soon to get to know them better.
I don't remember if I mentioned this, but my former Spiritual Director,
Father Al, knows them both very well and says we are getting wonderful men!
Just this morning as Father Mark introduced himself, I could tell he'll be
nice to have for our pastor. Father Joe is very young, about 28 or 29 and
maybe a bit shy yet, we'll bring him out of that! He's tall and handsome!
Tomorrow there's no Mass - and Friday either because of a funeral, so we'll
get to see them again on Sunday, whoever has the 10:30 Mass. Tomorrow
morning at 7:30 I'm getting a deep cleaning of my teeth and I'm not looking
forward to sitting in the dentist chair! And that's really early! My 3
blessings: 1) Waking up to a beautiful day and enjoying the Mass and
meeting our new priests, 2) Linus is off work now for 4 days - woo hoo!
that's so good for him, and 3) visiting with my neighbor as I helped her
hold branches for her to pick the cherries, and hey! there are many more
everyday blessings that God has given me - but that's my 3 for this thread.
Again praying for all of you, especially Pinky Ann and Cactus Cathy who lost
their Mothers yesterday suddenly, and all who are in need of healing and
love. Thanks for all your prayers for us!! We surely appreciate it! And
we still have HOPE that Linus will get that appliance job very soon. Where
would we be without hope? This thread is also about talents, why don't we
also talk about our talents that God gave us? They are special gifts and we
need to use them and develop them. For me, I can play piano and accordion
without notes, Do some art work, did a lot more when I was younger, not
good at sewing or crafts, but I did paint ducks out of molds for 10 years
and enjoyed it, and I bet I could do that again if I'd have the chance.
This is not meant for bragging, but to recognize God's gifts to me and HE
gets all the credit. What are you talents?

WHY ME?
--By Erin Broussard

When I hated you, you loved me. When I did you wrong, you did good unto me.
When I gave up, you came along and picked me up. Now all I can say is thank
you. Now all I can wonder is why me?

When I drank to much, you put me in a treatment center. When I was
promiscuous, you protected me from disease. When I judged others, you showed
me my need for forgiveness. Now all I can say is thank you. Now all I can
wonder is why me?

In my sins I spit on you and mocked you, In my rage I nailed you to a tree
In your pure love you didn't spit back, You just looked up and prayed for
me. Now all I can say is thank you. Now all I can wonder is why me?

The answer is as simple as your beloved name Jesus, the Lord, who saves me
from my shame. Abba, the one who makes it rain on me again. Holy Spirit, the
one who heals me and makes amends.

Why me? because i'm bad, and I need you. Why me? because I failed, and
couldn't save myself. Why me? because YOU WANTED TO, and that's good enough
for me.

Daily Prayers are Heaven's Stairs

The "Stairway" rises "Heaven high"-
The "steps" are dark and steep,
In weariness we climb them
As we stumble, fall and weep...
And many times we falter
Along the "path of prayer"
Wondering if You hear us
And if You really care...
Oh, give us some assurance,
Restore our faith anew,
So we can keep on climbing
The "Stairs of Prayer" to You-
For we are weak and wavering,
Uncertain and unsure,
And only meeting You in prayer
Can help us to endure
All life's trials and troubles
It's sickness, pain and sorrow,
And give us strength and courage
To face and meet tomorrow!

Our prayer -

Thank you Dear Father, for giving us this glorious day! Thank you, Dear
Father, for the many blessings you bring us each day, for food on our table,
and shelter over our heads. Thank you for the sunshine, the trees and the
beautiful blue sky. Thank you for our friends, family as well, and
especially your son Jesus who died for us on the cross.

Father, I come to you today to ask for your blessings, and to pray for my
friends both near and far, for Our Country, and Our people, for those who
are sick, or ailing, for those who are down for whatever reason, for those
who are happy, and for those who are sad after losing loved ones or just
leading unsaved lives. I ask you to take their hands and lead them towards
you instead of away from you.
Watch over them, protect them, and guide them. I ask these things in the
name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Amen
