So often in my life- esp in my career - people would tell me how ""lucky"" i was to be a nurse. I always answered that luck had nothing at all to do with it. I wanted to be a nurse and did the hard work to get it. I never understand why people think that others are just given things - you have to know what you want and work to get it. I think this is why some people spend their whole lives wishing for what they don't have - either they don't know what they really want or they aren't willing to do what it takes to get it.

If that were true we would not have homeless sleeping in doorways and eating out of dumpsters would we? We would also not have people so desperately in need of mental health care that they commit suicide. Or a hundred thousand people stuck on a mountain top starving and dying of thirst in Iraq.
