I have this one friend that really doesn't like to watch the news on TV because it is so depressing to her.
And yes, sometimes it is old news......
Go for it. Be the change that you want to see,
Hopefully this thread will wake up some folks for wanting to see some more positive posting.

Hi, ShowMe! Sometimes I notice it here and on Facebook, too. It seems to me the threads about positive things get few comments, move down the page, and drop away barely noticed. Something about good news doesn't attract as much attention, create as much interest, imho.
I remember reading about a tv station trying a daily 30-minute news program that was only "good news" (I think it might have been a Ted Turner idea.) The ratings were dismal, the show was cancelled after a brief run.
Something about human nature? I don't know.

Hi dear......I know it is what draws more posters, I am thinking it is more a sign of the times....

There is alot going on especially with the Olympics around the corner, sadly. But hey....I just started a fun loving thread about Rick Domier.

Perhaps it is human nature -- a way to process bad news as opposed to the gaining perspective from how it actually affects their life. As different problems arise close together, be they shootings, or abductions or whatever, people can feel vulnerable, sometimes actually afraid -- especially mothers of young children.
So the next question is, what percentage of posters here are habitually fearful? Said tongue-in-cheek and half seriously.

I suppose the board reflects what the rest of the country is probably talking about as well. There IS a lot of bad news out there each day, and each person has his or her own perspective on it.

Well said!!!
Plus, it's good to hash it out here....why not? It is happening.
Why hide from reality and instead perhaps we can realize how lucky we are? Or learn from others.
