Thread titles in caps?  No big deal to me.

Posting in all the colors is annoying.

TITLES IN CAPS ARE NOT BIG DEAL, whereas body tex is caps is annoying, if you can not see it just enlarge the text

Re: Thread TItles in CAPS

[ Edited ]

I'd like to hear if anyone has ever observed their male counterparts/colleagues standing around the water cooler and overhearing something like this:

"G-zus Tom, did you see the e-mail Henri sent this morning? The subject line was all in caps!"

Yeah I didn't think so

This is a non-issue to me. The posts that I find fault with are those where the poster doesn't separate paragraphs. I won't even consider reading a book that doesn't have a lot of white on each page. i've taken speed reading 3 times and I can't get lost in all that black on white.

Re: Thread TItles in CAPS

I use caps for the title of a thread and I assure you I am not "yelling" for attention nor am I being rude.  To my knowledge there are no rules here as to the size of a title for a thread.

With all of the problems in the world today, contesting the size of type for a title to a thread on a chat board is so trivial, it is ludicrous.  The accusation and negative remarks added insult to injury to all of the fellow posters who use caps in their title.

@magicmoodz

I wasn't standing around the water cooler at work.  I was just asking for thoughts on why people use all caps in titles here and gave my thoughts about it.

I don't know why what men would do around the water cooler is relevant.

@Lindsays Grandma

I wasn't "contesting" anything.

I was really just adding to the multitude of trivial threads that appear on this board every day.

I wish I could have advised the OP before she started this thread. It never goes well. But she is absolutely correct when it comes to the body of a message. Netiquette is that it is the equivalent of shouting in real life.

BTW, all caps in the body of a work is NOT necessarily easier to read (yes, I capped one word for emphasis :-). If you have ever tried to read a transcript in all caps, you would see the difficulty. My husband has occasionally received such transcripts from court reporters and has not been pleased. They are most certainly not taught to do that.

So maybe the answer for those who have sight limitations is to use a slightly larger font. I use #3 for any lengthy quoting I do here. But I don't think that the answer is to cap every word in a post.

Thankfully, I don't see it too often.

Next time I'm bored with housework I will remember not to look at this board.  hahaha

The responses have run from silly to ridiculous.

Such is life on the QVC boards!

Sometimes I will put the title in caps so its easier to see the title.  Is it suppose to mean something?
