Love my miele canister. Works like a charm with stainless steel components. Picks up dog hair and is great for asthmatics. I had been replacing my vacuums every two years as they lost suction and plastic parts broke. The miele is the best I have ever gotten with German made technology stainless steel canister and motor. It is very easy to maneuver anywhere in the house including stairs. Best purchase ever. It was more expensive but the same price as a dyson. Now it is over five years old and works the same as the day I got it.

Win, I got the basic Shark sweeper at Walmart and it does the job, for a sweeper..., which, for me, is for quick clean-ups between vacuuming. I think it was about fifty bucks. They had another, slightly more expensive model that was wider, but that was exactly what I didn't want...

I have the original Dyson and love it but it is heavy and it is cumbersome, so was in the market for a smaller, lighter weight vacuum and have heard good things about the Sharks... I too would love to know which model those of you who have and like it have purchased...

Thanks loads Stevie. I, too, have the original vacuum. We must have the same model. It works great, but it's big, clunky, cumbersome and heavy. My Oreck is lightweight, but I don't think it picks up well. It gets clogged often too. I appreciate your info!

I also have a Miele canister. Geez, that thing will pick up just about anything! I've also had mine about five years and it still works like new. My only complaint is that I wish the cord was longer.
