This should happen more often…..

Sharing something special- I participated as a musician in a dance recital the other night, and was both surprised and thrilled to see a beautiful plus sized woman as one of the dancers.

Unlike some activities featuring plus sized people, I saw nothing exploitive about her presence in the dance group. She did every single thing the other dancers did, and did all she did VERY WELL and VERY BEAUTIFULLY.

A very positive message for those of us who struggle with body image issues, and one we should see more often.

I am not a plus size or large woman.  I struggle with body image and have for most of my life.  It just happens with us gals.

Re: This should happen more often…..

I have a friend who is much larger than ideal standards.  She teaches fitness classes a few times a week that includes rumba and spinning.

Her energy is amazing.  She runs circles around most.  She says she is " fit fat."

Not all overweight people have negative body images, nor are they unhealthy.

It's some on our in society that doesn't accept them as being normal.

It's a sad reality.

Re: This should happen more often…..

I weigh more than I should.  Probably near 15% over my ideal weight.  I do 80 to 90,000 steps a week, am on zero medications, and go to a few wellness appts a year.  Not everyone overweight adds to medical costs.  I know some thin people with tons of medical issues, Dr appts and lots of meds.  I know other underweight people that are in great health too.  Not everyone is perfect.  We all try to do our best.  Todays world still discriminates overweight AND underweight people.  Very sad.
