This Will Become a Movie

[ Edited ]

Magdalena Cruz, 40, knew she was the product of rape. Her mother was severely disabled and institutionalized -- she never could have given consent. The case was never solved. Police decided it was another resident, but they could not prove who.

Enough, said Magdalena. So she set out to do her own DNA research to learn who her father is...... and to solve the crime.

This story is just breaking. I love it.

I've never heard of it but it sounds like it should at least be on Dateline.

I'll start checking it out.

This type of abuse , occured at many facilities partly because these facilities  have difficulty in hiring  and keeping staff so basically they hire anyone off the street . You can read abt many institutions across the country  of horrid stories of staff abusing  these helpless  disabled .

I am surprised that the institution or family allowed  the severly disabled Mother to carry the baby full term .

I’ve dealt with enough abuse cases in real life. I don’t want to see a movie.

Abuse happens every day in nursing homes. It is rampant. I would never watch a movie about abuse of the disabled, elderly, or anyone else.

To be accurate, she isn't looking for her father.  She's looking for a sperm donor, a rapist.  I agree with the others things like that happened in institutions.  The vulnerable were victimized by caregivers.  I think the story will only be interesting if her mother's rapist turns out to be someone rich and famous.

@skatting44  - I bet no on knew she was pregnant until it was too late - when she was obviously showing.  Such a horrible siutation.

Re: This Will Become a Movie

To make this crime even worse is that the  " rapist "  won't face charges as it is past the statute of limitations . NY state did not  make it retroactive to old cases of rape when they extended the  stature of limitations to file charges.

This man  who nows lives in Virginia who commited this crime should have his face posted in the newspaper .

Who knows how many other places he worked and did the same to  other helpless people.

@skatting44  - So she knows who did it?  I thought she was actively looking?
