I once heard a quote that I will never forget: "Money gives you options."
Indeed it does.
Unfortunately, one often has to spend money to make money or save money, so that takes money.
I had a long talk with my 24 year old son and his SO about money the other day. They have a four month old and another on the way. They need to really buckle down and start getting smart with money.
We have been talking to him about budgeting, credit, paying your bills, investing, etc. for a number of years, and most of it has fallen on deaf ears, as it will with young people. He's embarking on a new phase of life (commonly called I'm broke because I have kids phase!! lol) and I'm hoping that by talking to them both, that it will spark some thought and eventual action to make smart choices.
I told them that with the upcoming stimulus, and tax refund season, they will be seeing quite a hunk of money (unlike anything we ever saw in those years) and great thought needed to be given as to how to maximize it's potential.
But you are so right. Money does give one options. And for many of us, accumulating money is a longer and slower process than we like, and requires some sacrifices to be made, but the payoff in being able to have options, choices, take advantage of great deals when they pop up, makes it worth the effort.

Remind him your not an ATM machine and when they blow thru what they got coming your 'store' won't be open for business.

Personal autonomy is the most important to me, and something that is a luxury for many.
i hope things work out for your son and his family, especially for the childrens' sake,

I don't get refunds from the IRS. First stimulus they sent a check, second a debit card (which is still in a drawer). I hope it is a check again this time.

Can you take the debit card to your bank and get the cash, @DiAnne?
Some Posters said that's what they did with the Debit Card.
