Family (including felines)
A pleasant place to live, feed the wild birds, enjoy an occasional bear or chipmunk
Music to enjoy by myself or share with others

Me too, violann!
I never imagined that I could get so much pleasure and companionship from the birds...but i do.
Sadly, I had to stop feeding the big birds for a variety of reasons, and miss those relationships. ![]()
Anyway, for now I'm only feeding finches & hummers.
What's been gratifying and humbling is that there's a young female hummer who comes every time I go outside & will perch above me and chatter away as I talk to her. OMG, so cute.
She really loves to be talked to.
The other day my neighbor came out & watched as she chattered a blue streak - we both wished we knew what she was saying!

I definitely agree that pets enrich our lives. Our dog passed away 6 days ago, and we miss her terribly. Other things that enrich my life are: my husband, family, friends, my faith, music, and teaching.

The slower pace of life since I've retired and live in a semi-rural area.
Nature's beauty, of which there is more where I live now, and I have time to enjoy it.
Pets. I no longer have my "own", but the feline Mistress of the House, Miz Ruby Jean, is with me as I write this.
The warmth of family and friends, which I haven't always had.

Flora and fauna (especially the canine variety).

What daily warms my heart: Seeing grandmoms stroll or walk around the neighborhood with their precious toddler grandchildren. Love it when they blow kisses to me.

We face just opposite. The front of our house, where the master bedroom is, faces west, and gets the evening sun. This has always worked great for us, because my husband sleeps till at least 10 am on workdays (he works second shift and often doesn't get home and in bed till 4am), so that bright morning sun isn't flooding the room (even though we do have blinds to pull).
My kitchen/dining room get the morning sun, and I love it that way. I try to get in the kitchen and get my daily cooking, lunch packing etc. done early in the morning, and the deck is right off the dining room, so I get that soft early morning sun dancing through the woods in those areas, and it is so cool, bright and peaceful in morning, I just love it.

Daily nature walks. I find that it keeps me balanced in so many ways – mentally, physically and spiritually. When I feel down or unwell it's so healing to be out in the fresh air amongst the shade trees, wildflowers and song birds.

I don't know who enjoys watching all the hummingbirds feeding on the terrace more .... me, or my beautiful kitty Bogey.
Sometimes I'll walk by the sliding glass door, and Bogey is sitting there watching the birdies feed and play, and his tail flip flops silently ... ![]()
How often do we see one of God's creatures admiring another one? ![]()
