Latest forecast has a half inch to an inch by tomorrow morning. I'll believe it when I see it.
While you pick yourself up off the floor from laughter, in all serious, the South doesn't have the snow equipment the rest of you do and the roads are not treated or cleared. Pray for us!
And to my neighbors, if you don't know how to drive in snow and we do actually get some, please stay home!
My car, auto insurance, and mother who really would miss me if you slid and ran me over, thank you.
We’re hunkered down here in the East Cobb area, @Laura14, waiting for it to start!!
My best friend was supposed to come over to Atlanta tomorrow for shopping, lunch and gift exchange. We haven’t missed a year since 1970. We’re rescheduling. Who knows if it will actually do anything. This kind of came out of nowhere, didn’t it.

Atlanta? What about those of us who live just north of New Orleans. They are predicting snow flurries here in the Mandeville/ Madisonville area tonight until about nine tomorrow morning. It's going to be cold just about all over the South.
BTW, I lived in Decatur (just outside Atlanta) for almost 30 years. It wasn't snow we worried about. It was the ice storms which were so very dangerous. The last winter we were there we had 11 pine trees that broke off on our house, fences and cars during an ice storm. A very dangerous mess!

They can keep it!

@gidgetgh Yes it did! I was looking at my phone and saw the snowflake and was like WHAT? And then there is Brad Nitz showing the white stuff. I'll still believe it when I see it.
I'll send out smoke signals from Gwinnett in case it gets really bad. LOL

@Perkup OMG you brought back memories. I remember in college in Baton Rouge people were getting up and leaving the movie theater. It was a good movie so my friends and I were like what is happening? We finally went outside too and it was flurrying. Kind of. I about rolled all over the sidewalk that night. My first intro to winter Southern style. ![]()

@Krimpette It's coming! Here they close schools when it gets in the 20s because "kids don't have gloves and scarves and it's too cold."
Um, Walmart down the street sells them $2 a piece and the entire rest of the country manages to walk from a bus or a car into a warm school building every winter period.

@Laura14 wrote:@FrostyBabe1 I would think the airport should be okay. It's us locals who are going to be entertainment. on I-85 and I-75. With it being Friday and Snowmaggedon still fresh, I'll bet a lot of people stay home and take a 3 day weekend if it does materialize.
The thing with the airport is that if it's cold enough to snow, that means they'll need to be de-icing the aircraft prior to take-off. That takes a fair amount of time and slows everything down. There's a pretty interesting discussion going on in a frequent flyer forum about the adequacy (or lack thereof) of cold weather ops at ATL. And it's not just the folks actually flying...there's thousands of people that work at the airport and need to get there. Thankfully I got my trip done yesterday. Landing was pretty sporty as we went thru a cold front, but that was about it.
@FrostyBabe1 My new thing of the day! How interesting. You are so right about the employees trying to get to work. Atlanta refuses to build a real mass transit system so if you aren't driving, you aren't flying.

I saw on the noon news they are forecasting snow in north Florida. I saw snow in Cocoa Florida a couple times when I was a child. Just flurries.

I'd make plans to do a snow angel but it probably won't show up in the grass. ![]()

@Laura14 Please excuse me for saying this, but as a resident of NE Ohio (think Lake Erie lake-effect snow), I'm finding this thread rather amusing! No snow here yet, but we're expecting some later today just along the lake shore (which is where I live). Got the Mustang trunk loaded up with my free weights last night!
