Yesterday I had to make several official phone calls. By official I mean other than friends or family. When I needed to state my name, I knew that they knew that I knew that they knew that they were speaking to an old woman 😄
So today I did some Google checking to get the numbers. The year that I was born in the 1950's, my first name was the 13th most popular girl's name in the United States. In 2024, less than 1 percent of baby girls are given that name. 0.23 percent. Maybe when I'm long gone my name will come back in style.
Anyone else have a name like that?

What's your name?

@PhilaLady1. Social Security says there are only 4 people a year registered with my first name. It's never been popular so at least, it's not old-fashioned.

I was born in 1953 and my name is a very traditional name from that time. But there were 530 kids in my high school class and not one other girl with my same first name. I think they all went to Catholic school. Then I went to the university and there were 7 others just on my dorm floor! I don't hear of any young children with my name anymore.

In my lifetime, I've only known of one very famous woman and one co-worker (who was 30 years older than I). I don't know where that put me. ![]()

I don't think your name sounds old at all. All of our names from the 50's and 60's no one names their kids our names. Not sure where they get some of these names today. Some are pretty and some are pretty awful.

@PhilaLady1 : My brother and I were named from tv characters in the 1950's : we were named Jerry and Pam.

My government name is Jennifer. I have never liked it. My oldest sister is 16 years older than me and she would say as soon as I could put a sentence together I would tell people "I am Jenny". And, I am.
There were five Jennifers in my 4th grade class so we went by our last names.
I hate it.

I'm 62 and didn't like my name growing up. I've always gotten compliments on it. It is an older name and I've still not heard others with it. I've always heard, "that's my grandmother's name".
