Re: There's Always A First Time.....

My current cat wants absolutely nothing to do with people food.  She may sniff something you hold out but she will walk away.  She's always been like that.

The one before was out of her mind for McDonalds fries, Cheerios and Doritos.

Our first one would steal corn cobs out of the garbage and gnaw on them until his gums bled, would pace waiting for chicken livers when I would make them and loved zucchini and chick peas.

I had a cat who would go crazy over ice cream cones.  It would be almost impossible to eat one with her in the room.  She would grab your forearm with both paws to drag the cone away from your mouth, so she could lick it.

Re: There's Always A First Time.....

My cat will hover over us when we eat a cooked rotisserie chicken from the store.  It has a lot of spices and for that reason never gave it to puttypie but we can't turn our back for 1 second.  Puttypie is an indoor only cat so we've had to put her into another room and close the door while eating.  She's always sound asleep when I check on her.

My old cat Moe wants to try everything,he smells it and than literally backs away from it. I feed him Fresh Pet because he has very few teeth left and I'm afraid he isn't chewing the dry food and just swallowing it whole. I had a big red cat we named Milo years ago and that guy would drink your coffee if you let it sit where he could get at it.

My cat Jazpur jumped up on the couch and grabbed a huge bite out of my almond butter sandwich not too long ago. She does not normally show interest in people food.

Re: There's Always A First Time.....

Years ago, I had a cat who could open cupboard doors and would get into the bread and chew the wrapper and eat some of the bread.  It took me awhile to figure out he was doing it.  I thought I had mice.  Too funny.

He was also a cat who would run across the room and jump into your arms.  If you weren't ready for this, the scratches from the claws - as he dug in -  were paintful to say the least.  Loved that cat!!!

@Annabellethecat66

When my grandmother "retired' from hostessing family holiday dinners, the responsibility became mine.  So, just imagine a 12' diningroom table laden with food.  There was to be a crowd, so service was buffet.  Our sideboard held all of the desserts and kitchen table was the bar.

On one end of the diningroom table, we had a few bowls of munchies so guests could have a snack, while others arrived.  One snack was "Dorritos," which my daughter liked.  So DD and I are busy working on hot dishes and I hear a crunch.  We go into the diningroom and there is our female Burmese, Shasta, on the floor with a Dorito and she ate the entire chip.  Then she very daintily jumped up on the corner of the table, inserted her tiny mouth (she weighed 5 lbs) into the bowl and pulled out another one, without touching another chip and jumped down, finishing that one off, too.  We did remove the bowl at that point.  Shasta also loved french fries, but only from Burger King.

Her brother, Nigel, was very fond of parmesan cheese and butter.  You could not grate parm for dinner and place it on the table and turn your back.  He would be there in a thrice, with his face in the bowl.  Caught him that first time, he looked up and had parm all over his face.  Sooooooo funny!!!

Our Balanese male, Stanleigh, loved canteloupe and minestrone soup.  Chatter and Snow (ginger and white Persian) simply loved ice cream, chicken livers and mice, which they would eat under the kitchen table.  DD and I would head for her room, close the door and plug our ears, so we didn't hear the crunching.  After they had passed, no more indoor-outdoor cats.
