What I wrote is simply my opinion. You have every reason to question it and come out on top with more knowledge than me. I haven't shopped in a mall or B&M store in almost 20 years, so I have no idea what is out there. I was mostly talking about online purchasing.
No. She means Nordstrom's has free shipping. To & From. Not the B&M store.
I purchased a pair of Cole Haan boots from them on sale and free shipping. They didn't fit. Returned them. Free return shipping . . . slap the label on the box.
Yes, I have had that experience as well. No return shipping fee. I was talking about the original purchase with no S&H and going out to the big malls and stores. I reposted as you will see. If I am wrong, as I said, I am wrong. No big deal, nothing worth arguing about.
Ford, it isn't just free returns for Nordies, they send it to you for free, also. Same price as the store.
I would guess it saves them the money of paying someone to wait on you and take up a certain amount of time per transaction. It probably comes out more or less even.
OK, well, I think I will go warm up some potato soup and then take a nap. Sometimes I have to reboot my aging brain. I'm glad to hear there are lots of "freebies" out there. One is never too old to learn something new.

That means not only the same price as sold in store... BUT! Also with a 5% discount.
I use this quite often and when I actually go to the B&M Target, I usually get back a $5 off of next purchase $25 and over or a $10 off of next order $100 or more, the receipts you get with your receipts if you know what I am talking about. At Target on the bottom of your receipt it shows you how much you have saved for the year to date. I was close to $450 for savings last year and that isn't including free shipping on internet orders. I love it!!
Edited to add: I just make sure I pay off the CC monthly. I normally don't get store cards but I shop at Target pretty regularly so it was definitely worth my while.

Also, stores will raise prices on other products to cover their costs. The money has to come from somewhere, and with retail, that source is the consumer.Help me understand your comments about no such thing as free shipping and handling, Ford. Allow me to cite an example. This Lipstick Queen lipstick sells for $22.00 + $3.00 shipping and handling on QVC. The same lipstick sells at Nordstrom for $22.00 with NO shipping and handling fees. From this, I can safely say Nordstrom offers free shipping and handling.
Now, should I get this lipstick home and decide I don't like it, it will cost me $6.95 plus the original $3.00 for a total of $9.95 just to look at the lipstick and return it to QVC. However, I can return it to Nordstrom for NO shipping and handling charges, costing me a total of $0.
Please, I really want to understand the way you view this issue. Thank you.

Online shopping saves a company money. It is in their best interest to close stores as they save on rent and salaries. Offering free shipping both ways encourages shoppers to stay home and shop online.
While QVC has no real B&M stores, they have tons of employees. I can only imagine what their executives and show hosts make in salaries and in benefits. I doubt we'll see the day they offer free S&H on everything.

I don't consider this post an "issue," and if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. No biggie. I've been wrong lots of times before.
Ford, I sincerely hope I did not offend you. I was merely asking for your spin on why you feel there is no such thing as free shipping and handling.
I am sorry if you took it the wrong way.

Hi Irsh, ITA! It's totally worth it and I also love looking at the receipt to see how much I've already saved over the year.
I order online quite often, especially when I see I'm running low on a product. By the time I run out, the new order is here. DD likes the Sonia Kashuk line so I sent for her new higher price line of an eye shadow palette to include in her Easter basket... from her dessert sand line. Pretty.

I would think that everyone knows there is no literal free s&h, that it is built in somewhere, somehow, in the company's prices overall even if not on individual items. The point for most people is that some businesses can sell the same items as other businesses for less money and perhaps better/faster service as well. The point is that if business A can sell item X for $50 with no added shipping cost and you'll receive it in 4-5 days, why should customers buy from business B, who sells item X for $48+$8 s&h and it takes 8 days to arrive. There is NO incentive to buy from business B. And that's not even taking into consideration free return postage vs. out of pocket return postage.
Like several others who have posted, I look at the bottom line price that includes the item cost and s&h together, to decide if I want to spend the money. The company fiddling with the item price and/or the shipping price is pointless to me. My bottom line is my bottom line, no matter how it's computed. And most of the time the QVC item isn't worth it, period. But since I'm not a frequent buyer and I do not return items, the $2, 3 and $5 shipping IS more attractive to me than the previous s&h prices.
