@San Antonio Gal I have not ever nor will I ever put photos of myself in this space.
The photos that you did not see were pics of other women from various cultures. I was trying to lend some diversity to all the grandma's around the world.
@CoffeeNut NO. That is not a picture of me. I did add other women though now, the photos are gone. I was trying to be funny but it didn't turn out that well, I suppose.

My grandmothers dressed like those on the left. They both lived with us for awhile. They were very warm caring people. I'm not a grandmother, and I wouldn't expect grandmothers today to dress the way mine did. Times and fashions change.

Left 70's-80's.
Right 50's, early 60's.
It's much easier to stay in shape in our 50's and 60's than in 70's and 80's.
While those on the left are wearing typical granny dresses and shoes, what were 50 year olds wearing? For me, that's the key to making accurate comparisons
@Foxxee I think we might be surprised. Some women like the ones on the left were in the sun more, lived without air conditioning (which has to be hard on a person) and never had sunscreen.
No dyed hair, modern cuts, couldn't wash and fluff it often like we do . . . no skin care or cosmetics probably and it all adds up.

I'll take the grannies on the right mainly because their life was SOOO much easier than the venerable Grannies on the left. MY Grannies are the one's on the left. The Grannies on the right had it made. Even Grannies of TODAY have it harder than they.

I like the look of the grannies on the left.
The ones on the right could be anyone.

Where are the "Then vs. Now" Grandpappies?
‎11-13-2022 11:49 AM
The women on the left are probably 62 years old. People aged faster and died earlier. Average life span for women was 63 years in the 1940s.

My grandmothers were born in the 1800s, helped with the farm work when they weren't making their own butter, bread, soap, clothing for their large families, birthing and helping neighbors give birth plus holding dying children through epidemics and illnesses. They put on a nice dress when it was called for. so those other gorgeous ladies on the right have their own time to shine at whatever it is they do and as they view beauty, there simply is no comparison.

Should Grannies look like the ones on the left, or the ones on the right?

The ladies on the left, never heard about workout gyms though. But they made great cookies as I recall! LOL
