Crows have always freaked me out ever since I watched "The Birds".
Even when I'm in my backyard and the crows are crowing it makes me a little uneasy
After watching Hitchcock's "The Birds" I have always been afraid they WILL "get" me!
I realize that crows are smart and all....but I had one that would wake me up outside my window every morning at dawn. There is nothing worse than hearing that screeching CAW CAW CAW at 5 a.m. !!!!
Emma, you brought back an old memory, when I was a teen we'd TP houses and CAW CAW CAW was our code for warning that we were about to get caught! ha!

That's really something else! Thanks for the post. I will have more respect for the crows that frequent the edge of the woods behind our house. I love to watch them.

We have 4 crows that come by everyday. We leave peanuts out for the bluejays and squirrels so the crows come to get their share also.
I don't know how many posters remember Nancy B. who passed away a few years ago, but when she lived in NH, she had a pet crow that she named Magoo. She used to tell the most fascinating stories about him. She gave him a red toothbrush to play with and eventually it either broke or got lost. She bought him another one, but he wouldn't play with it. She correctly assumed it was because it wasn't red and she was right. She then bought him another red toothbrush and he was as happy as can be.
Birds, crows in particular, are extremely intelligent. Much more than we can even imagine at this point, IMO.

Six terrifying ways crows are smarter than you think.

eta: warning....just saw that there is a swear word at the very end of this. If this will give you the vapors, please don't click on the link.
