Do you remember the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas that left 15 dead and many more injured? It was a several years ago and there have been a few more explosions of chemical plants since then. I believe some company executives were charged and convicted as a result. Let's not forget the tragedy of the Deepwater Horizon, a recent oil rig explosion in OK that killed 4 and countless other work related accidents in coal mines.

Everyone hates regulations, but this is the reason we have them.

This is the reason I will always support a union. Without one ,the workers face terrible working conditions ,and safety violations

I am not even sure if OSHA still exists?

@bathina, they hate them until the lack thereof hits them personally.

What I hate is when a company has regulations but don't follow them because the regs have no teeth; no one is interested enough to enforce them.   Look what happened with PG & E and the town of Hinkley Ca. Look what happened to the Bernie Madoff fiasco.  Everyone looked the other way.  So many other examples all across the country.

@puttypiesmom, exactly. Just follow the money. Our health and safety take a back seat to the money trail from corporations and businesses to TPTB.

I read this book a couple of years ago and it was a real eye opener.  Things have not changed that much!
