Despite the fact that our next door neighbor, Arizona, is suppose to have temps as high as 117° the next few days, the heat has broken in New Mexico. We'll be in the high 80s the next week with a chance of rain every day. I say, "Bring it on"!
Meantime, here on the Fourth, my Sheltie is driving me nuts. He hears firecrackers in the distance and everytime he does he barks his fool head off out in the yard. I remind him "no barking" and he'll shut up but just temporarily. I don't think he's afraid of them; he just hates them. My other two dogs don't pay any attention to them thankfully.

I don't know what we are going to do. Our collie won't go outside because of all the fireworks. He hasn't "gone" since early this afternoon. Every time my husband tries to take him for a walk, there are fireworks.

I am so so sorry to hear about your little one being afraid. I am such a big animal lover.
I live in the Phoenix. Yes we are reaching the very hot levels. Normal for this time of year, but still much too hot. Excessive heat warnings. I especially feel bad for the homeless, firefighters who have to work in this terrible heat (actually anyone who have to work outside), rescue workers, etc.

My Cocker would bark and bark at every nearby emergency vehicle - - - until she suffered hearing loss in her advanced years. Also knew the sound of the UPS truck. No dog now and - - thanks to QVC changes - - not as many 'stops' these days. (Yea Yea)

I am in AZ and can't wait for the monsoon to start. Glad your temps are cooling off. Am expecting to start hearing fireworks soon so better let my dog out soon. She is 11 and has lost some of her hearing so maybe they won't bother her as much as they did a few years ago.

@drizzellla. My collie, Jett my avatar, was so unfazed by firecrackers that he fell asleep on the sidewalk that runs along the side of my house. The idiot across the street was setting off bottle rockets that landed all around Jett. I had to go wake him up and make him come into the house.

Take care of your pets. Has to be horrible; their ears are much more sensitive. Bad time for people with PTSD, small children and the elderly (dementia) who no longer understand it. Have heard on the news about a place in Italy that uses non-nosey fireworks! What a great idea.
It's been like a war zone all around me the past five days. I did go to a Neighborhood Block Parade (my son and grandson always drive his 1995 Olds Cutlass convertible). It was my mom's "summer car" many years ago and is in pristine condition. Always kept garaged and very low mileage. My son only drives it in their parade or for displays in the dealership. Then had a BBQ and came home.
Just had a weather alert! After all these fireworks, we need the rain. Lawns are crispy in 95 degree heat. Last night I noticed the fireflies were not longer around. It was such a strange late night without the pretty flickering. Wondered if the smoke from the fireworks killed them? <sad thought>

I live near Tucson, and I will also welcome the monsoon season! It has been 108, 109 and 110 several days so far this Spring/Summer and I am ready for some relief!

Live in Phoenix too and waiting so long for some rain. Yes, the clouds are starting to build up a little. Just to even look at rain would make me happy. Love a nice rain storm but monsoons sometimes scare me. Just got 2 cats and they don't care about fireworks because they are princesses & have an attitude.

You can have it. All the rain we kept having has finally moved out. It will be nice for the humidity to move out. At least the grass is really green & growing. Already mowing twice per week. Suppose to have lower temps with lower humidity next week.
