@GinzTonic Excellent! DH and I have keto meals often, but average between 50-60 carbs a day overall. Some consider keto at under 50 carbs daily and others under 30. What is the number of carbs you stick to daily?

DH’s cardiologist told him to stay away from Keto now after putting him on a strict keto diet last year. DH is a coffee fiend but has to drink decaf...he would never do any of this stuff to his coffee! The keto craze appears to be losing steam as paleo and a few others are vying for the spotlight now. Plant-based food seems to be pushed now instead of beef...the ultimate keto food. I am old enough to know so many of these things go in cycles....and come back after a few years.

@lovesrecess I couldn't disagree with you more.

Good for you.

One of my bosses was on the coconut oil phase in his coffee a few years back. He finally quit. He now uses coconut milk in his coffee. I tried it once and found it to be gross. I also tried the coconut oil in my coffee once and found that disgusting too.
I use organic coffee creamer. I only have a cup of coffee a day. I'm not going to worry about the small amount of creamer I use.

That does sound gross to me too. There is no reason to add any type of oil to coffee.
i only use olive oil., the extra light has no taste and can be used for delicate foods. I used virgin olive oil too.
I avoid eating coconut oil. It causes bad cholesterol, which I don't want.
I try to keep my consumption of fats and oils on the low side.

The plant-based meats that fast food places are now serving....the carbs are higher than beef or chicken from what I have read...but I much lower in fat...so guess it depends on what you are trying to avoid. Our cardiologist said some of his keto patients just pile on fats, oils, and grease with no care about the rest of what they are eating, so it’s a failing proposition.

@lovesrecess Many people who are on the Keto diet and winging it. They just Eat what they think are low carb foods with no understanding how this diet works.
I have a friend who said she was on this diet over the winter. She has lost a few lbs, and claims she is still on it. Every weekend she goes off and eats bread, potatoes, candy and desserts.
I told her keto meams your body is in ketosis and it takes several days of low carb eating to get to that state. When you cheat, you're off the " burn" until a few days after you start again. She doesn't get it. All summer she ate her ham sandwiches and carried a big bags of macadamia nuts around with her for snacking.
Oh well, what ever. Their choice.

It’s just a matter of time before a Keto/Paleo/low carb cardiologist
gets sued when a patient dies of heart disease. Stunning patients
listen to this craziness. Eating the exact foods which caused the disease.
It’s like something from the satire site, ‘The Onion’.

Definition of sartorial. : of or relating to a tailor or tailored clothes; broadly. : of or relating to clothes. poor sartorial taste.
The Onion is an American satirical digital media company and newspaper organization that publishes articles on international, national, and local news.
Just thought that needed to be mentioned to avoid confusion and clarify that The Onion has nothing to do with clothing or food.
