Ugh, just got finished reading your thread. This is the last thing both of you need and I'm so hoping that they will get this investigated and repaired for you and your daughter.

Thanks for keeping us updated and it does look hopeful from what the plumber said. It sounds like such a beautiful place to live.

I know you will keep on top of things and make notes, keeping everything in writing, along with pictures.

Hopefully, everything will soon be rectified and you can enjoy your new place.

How unsurprising!!!

I don't know what your issue is Sophia, I have ignored your remarks so far. Something has been found to be wrong and needs to be fixed. I do not care what the cause is as long as it is fixed. Your attitude speaks for itself as being negative toward me just for making a complaint, which I have every reason and right to do.

I just received a call from the manager's office that they will bring this company in (not affiliated with their company) to test the air in the apartment. She said that if it tests "toxic," they will pay for it, and that if it tests "not toxic" that they will not pay for it. So it's not as though they are being totally solicitous toward us. I will have to find out how much that would be and compare it with what I would have to pay my own third party company before I agree to it, since they are putting this catch to it. For all I know, this company could charge twice as much as the company I would bring in.

Tell them to stick it **&^)). The burden of proof is on them, not the tenant. Ford, have you called the board of health. I would tell them you are paying for nothing, nada.

You shouldn't have to pay for a company to test anything. This is their issue and you shouldn't be paying for anything. If this does turn out to be black mold, they know you could sue them. They have attorneys who very much know that.

At least the plumber found the problem with the faulty pipe. That's one step in the right direction. Lots of good luck re: the other problem. As I've mentioned before, try to pack a few necessary items in suitcases, just in case, as you will have to leave the premises, I'm only thinking, if worse comes to worse. Depending on which state/county/whatever that you live in.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I have not contacted the Board of Health yet. I am going to wait to see what happens here and to what extent what they do is satisfactory to us. I just spoke to the manager again and asked her to find out what the charge would be to us if the air is found to be "non-toxic," and I told her that if it is more than the amount the third party company I spoke to would charge, then I would have my company do it, not theirs.

I agree with you that all of this should not cost me any money. They have already admitted that the "cleaning staff" did not do a proper job of preparing this apartment. IMO, it goes a little further than a cleaning staff if the drain pipe outside the house points down into the ground instead of outward into the back areas of the complex. I told her not to schedule anything until I know what these costs are going to be and who is going to pay them.

If this were as simple as a dirty refrigerator (which it isn't, the appliances are all brand new), I would blame the cleaning staff. Poor folks probably get blamed for everything.

I guess when you don't have an answer, the next best thing is to get it poofed. Okay by me.

You have no axe to grind in this, so I don't understand your negativity. I have never had anything poofed and never will. And I still see your post here, so what has been poofed?

OMG ~ Ford ~ I just read the entire post. I am SO sorry for this aggravation and stress.

Please keep us posted. So far, from what I have read, you now know what the problem is so, it sounds like you will have a good outcome. I'm just sorry you have to go through this. Whether you are a renter or a homeowner, like Rosanne-Rosanna-Danna used to say, "IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING"!

Hi Ford, It sounds promising. Glad they located the source of the leak and I am very impressed that you were able to stand up for yourself and take action. Best of luck.
