Re: The beginning of the end for trick or treating?

This was one of the purest joys of childhood for many of us growing up and yet I think it's been on the wane now for some years. It's a different world and a different time. I'm glad some of us had the experience of walking for blocks and blocks without fear and collecting candy while dressed in our costume finery. The future and to some extent present of 'trick or treating' involves a Halloween children's party in a controlled setting... Hardly the same thing at all.

There were a ton of kids on our street. The parents drive them here and then walk with them up and down and then pile back into the car to head for another street. Heard lots of screaming and laughter too. We didn't participate again this year. The kids (and their parents) are fat enough and look like they've been eating candy all year long.

Wow. Aren't you special.

Not only special but fit, trim and healthy! No compromised immune system. Loving life!!!!

Found: Compromised immune systems aren't just for the overweight. Just an fyi.

However, I just saw your "fat enough" comment - ouch. It could have been worded a little nicer, no?

And nasty.

Guess what? Fit, trim and healthy people with no compromised immune systems have been known to keel over and die on the spot just like the people they think they're so superior to. I know this because my personal trainer dropped dead on the side of the road one afternoon while he was out on his daily 5 mile run.

Not to worry bucky....one doesn't have to run 5 miles a day to be fit and trim!

cakers.....if you and your family lived with me you would be done with sugary treats year round and love me for it!!!

Found: You are assuming we all eat sugary treats over here. We don't.

I don't know - something about living with you kinda skeeves me out.

Oh I'm offended cakers. I'm all about helping others to be fit and trim and free from food addictions and looking great in their clothes.

Just an idle question ILikeShade; has anyone asked you for your help?
