I might be able to adapt better than many people given that night time and cloudy weather doesn’t bother me. I generally don’t like summer. I like rain. The severity of the cold would be my biggest adjustment I think.
The town formally known as Barrow Alaska is quite fascinating. I saw a terrific documentary about five years ago about the high school football team which has become the greatest source of pride and attention for the town. They have to travel great distances to play other teams. During practice they often lose footballs into the Arctic Ocean 😂 But the formation of the football team made a huge difference for the kids in town. It really was a great documentary I think it was on NFL network. I wouldn’t mind watching it again. I need to see if I can find it somewhere.

Wow, I don't know if I could go that long without seeing daylight.  When the time changed here in NC, it was quite an adjustment for me this year.  Normally, it doesn't bother me, but this year it did...

I'm guessing wages are pretty good to be able to afford those prices at the grocery store?

A quick look at real estate---only one home for sale.  $250k for 375 square feet.   One bedroom, one bath.  Looks like particle board for outer walls, can't imagine-- in that climate.

Can snow every month of the year.  July being the warmest with an average high of 47*.  Lots of cloudy days.  But less than 5 inches of rain a year.  (That would depress me more than the darkness!)

Not all of Alaska is like the villages. This is Anchorage. And while there are many, many retail chains we do not have there is plenty available.

I lived in Fairbanks which is in the interior region of Alaska. We were in the land of the midnight sun, the opposite of Utgiagvik. It was hard to sleep if you're accustomed to distinct daylight, sundown and night. It's worth it, though, because we had the magnificent aurora borealis in the darker months when the days were shorter. I could probably adjust to Utgiagvik if necessary but that's not going to happen. I'd love to live in Alaska again but I have to settle with visiting every few years. My baby sister is in a Fairbanks cemetery.

I don't think it would bother me. Of course I am only guessing. I am not a sun worshiper.  I am used to cold weather. I know this is more extreme, but you would dress for it

I have read and heard that people in the Nordic countries look forward to the dark time. I honestly think I would do better with the long nights, than I would with the long days..Those  I know I would hate. I have a hard time sleeping when it is daylight
