Yes, very much. I play music every single day (TV on, but muted, it's the music that fills my space). All genres of music, and so many mirror my long life that it would take a book to go through them all.

All I can say is that it would be a hard pick for me if I had to choose between deaf or blind.

Excellent post Mistri, I may contribute again as it expands.

Thanks, Ford.

I don't know which I would pick if I had to choose either. I tend to think that I would choose to lose my sight rather than my hearing, but our society puts sight at a premium, I believe...it would be harder to get along without sight than without hearing, I think.

And then there are those songs that from the very first time that you hear them, they give you goose bumps and you just can't get enough and want to hear them over and over ? I've had songs like that that I call my driving songs, and I crank them loud and sing along till I have no voice left (:

Fade into You...by Mazzy Star - that one gave me chills when I first heard it and I still love it today

I'm having a really hard time watching my family struggle. And I'm afraid my dad will die, and I'll still be wondering whether or not he ever really loved me.

mistri, if your dad enrolls in hospice care, be sure to ask them about therapy. Most hospice programs offer grief therapy at no charge, and I think it may help you.

On a happier note, the songs on Meat Loaf's Bat Out of H-ll album - I was a single mom and took my son to the beach when he was about 13-14 and we sang at the top of our lungs all the way there and back in a Camaro with the T-tops off!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} What wonderful memories!

I also have fond memories of driving to San Diego along the coast, Lionel Richie, my mom, and a Camaro. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Re: The Soundtrack of Your Life...

Oh, Mistri, now you've done it. The first song that comes to my mind is one that most here will not even know, or maybe haven't ever heard. The song is, Here's To My Lady. My husband used to sing it to me sometimes when he was on stage performing and I was in the audience. He was a professional singer for many years. Even though he's been gone a long time, it's enough to make me dissolve in tears every time I hear it. Here's Nat King Cole's arrangement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z-p43tyjhk

And there are two others that put me in the same mood:

Somewhere In Time, and Josh Groban's. To Where You Are. After hearing these three, I just wish I could go to sleep and not ever wake up.

I am now going to play. Happy, and hope it helps to brighten the rest of my day a bit.

Johnny River's The poor Side of Town"" reminds me of my first love (not that he was from the poor side of town lol) We used to listen to that.

It changes. And, for me, when I feel the need to listen to a particular piece of music or a song, I have to listen to it repeatedly. I'm talkin' over and over again. I don't take any medications, so I figure music takes the place of pills. I guess that means I self-medicate with music.

May I share a video? I often watch this and I feel better after I do.

Squirrel! I think this thread is a great idea!

Thanks, qualitygal.

I think music is something that just about everyone can relate to...and that most of us make associations between certain pieces of music and our own lives...
