For anyone who doesn't recognize the name, or how he made his money, Jeff Bezos is the CEO of Amazon.

@Noel7  I guess his intention to market his own brand of OTC meds is taking up too much time for philanthropy.

I did not know that @Cakers3  !!!  Is there a possible altruistic reason?  Such as lower cost for meds?

@Noel7  At first I thought he was going to open up a prescription Pharmacy online but the last I read it is only an Amazon brand of OTC meds.

Bezos has donated a few millions for tuition for DACA recipients but I've been seeing rumblings that he is replacing full time workers with temps and more automation.

Which, of course, cuts out benefits and hikes up the # of his employees on food stamps.

He doesn't stand out at a major player in philanthropy but who knows what goes on in private.  I do know that his newest Visa for Prime members through Whole Foods has a whopping 15% interest rate.  That does not justify the cash back on that card, imo.

Anyway-I don't know all the details of the meds situation but last I saw it is only OTC meds.  And since Amazon doesn't always have the lowest prices I'm not so sure there will be a $$ benefit but more of a convenience benefit.

15% isn't high for interest.   20% and more is actually pretty common.  Many people pay it off in full so interest rates don't matter all that much for a lot of people, I don't think.   Getting back 5% at Whole Foods is a deal.  That being said, I am not yet interested in this card or any other new credit card.

I’m just not a big Bezos fan.  Working at that company is very stressful.  I realize I am in the minority regarding Amazon.  šŸ˜•

We lost a huge number of bookstores in the PNW and then, years later, he opens up his own.  I didn’t like the one I checked out in the mall near me.

Re: The Richest Man In The World

I'd be interested in the sources of my food as well as how it was prepared (if it wasn't me preparing it).  I rarely eat out because it's not always clear where their food comes from.

If I were rich, I'd be a philanthropist first off.  My pet charities would be animal connected, worldwide, anti-cruelty, and also for education for everyone.  And some as yet unnamed but surely deserving of further attention.

Personally, I wouldn't live in a big house but something manageable.  Maybe I'd even get my dream "cottage in the woods" with me being the owner of said woods!

@GingerPeach

I have the Amazon credit card and I order a lot from Amazon.  I get a five percent kickback on it all.  I think of it like my Christmas nest egg.  I bought a really nice camera for DD and got $400 off on what I'd let accumulate of my kickback.

I also get 5% back from my Target card.  Every day basics, even food.  They carry coffee brands I like.

I always appreciate your recommendations, @Noel7

Somehow I want to wait until I move before taking on another thing that will need me to file a change of address card!  Otherwise, I like that 5% back since I shop at amazon frequently.

Hi again @GingerPeach

I do get little gifts for DD at Amazon and books.. Got three science magazine subscriptions yesterday for DH's Easter basket.

Target is usually basics: paper towels, moisturizer, mascara, cat litter and food, things like that.  They have nice little steaks DD likes, cereal, bread etc.

Steaks at Target, @Noel7?  Are they a frozen product?
