Re: The Reporters In Florida

It's better if reporters carefully go out and take a look around at the disaster -- so that people who are curious can see it on tv instead of going out themselves.

Re: The Reporters In Florida

Just watched a reporter on MSNBC in a neighbor in Orlando and they showed a good sized alligator gliding through the water.  He said they yelled to people walking waist  deep in water that there was a gator.

It is hellish enough living through the hurricane much less having to watch for critters with the power to kill you.

I am always amazed the amount of people who live in trailers in Florida.  Seems like they need something safer than that considring the hurricanes.  Maybe better building codes also.

I think the reporters are doing a good job  The Governor and his team have their work cut out for them and they are doing an excellent job.  The devastation is heartbreaking, my thoughts are with those who have experienced a loss and those responding to the needs of the people.

And the Federal Goverment. Without federal funds, there will be no rebuilding.

I remember very well when Sandy caused so much devastation in New York and New Jersey, and those who didn't want to help them financially. It's a human crisis of our fellow men women and children, at least that's what it should be about.

Re: The Reporters In Florida

Every reporter wants to get THE story, so they gladly go to dangerous places.

I'm thinking of all of the first responders in water up to their waists. I saw some in just shorts. IMO they shouldn't be out there in "just shorts." But I thank them for all they do to help others. We've seen a lot of rescues.

After last year's Hurricane Ida in Louisiana, a man in Slidell was wading through water from his house to his garage. A 7-ft. gator got him and pulled him under. His wife managed to pull him up on the front step, but she left to get a canoe and first aid supplies to get them help. When she got back he was gone. They caught the alligator 2 weeks later.

I have been through a minor hurricane, and I know the winds can be very dangerous. But the water is what causes most of the devastation.

Meterologists are predicting that 1000 year storms are going to be happening every few years or so. Whatever label and reason and solution you want to assign it to it, weather is getting more and more severe.

No one is going to be able to afford home owners insurance or flood insurance in Florida pretty soon. I hear it's ridicuoulous even now. Many people pay more for their home owners insurance than they do for their mortgage.

@Porcelain :  Just hears his morning that Florida has a 22 billion dollar budget surplus. That kind of money can go a long way in fixing hurricane damage.

I was watching one of those reporters, a man, and thought, "If he were one of my family or a friend, I wouldn't be too happy seeing him in such a risky situation.

Also the water is heavily contaminated with gas, oil, sewage and more.
