This is a fascinating bit of hidden history; thanks.  It sounds like the householder's version of a library bookmobile.

I always have a picture of the Bookmobile in my mind too whenever she describes it.😃🌸

I'm so sorry about your mom.💝🌸

Re: The ROLLING STORE

@Estellee  Ooh I love Hershey's too Heart- its my favorite chocolate! I like Hershey's kisses, Mr. Good Bar, Hershey's syrup, and Hershey's chocolate bars.  The other day I came up with a delicious Hershey's creation- I had half a sleeve of Nabisco graham crackers that I accidentally dropped on the floor so they were broken inside.  I put the graham crackers on the tray, put mini marshmallows on top, broke a Hershey's chocolate bar on top of that into scattered pieces and put the tray under the broiler setting for a few minutes until the marshmallows were golden brown and the chocolate was melted and I had what I call "smores nachos" -delicious! Smiley Very Happy

Thank you, I miss her but haven't really had her for a year and a half. She's much better off than any of us down here.

I remember Gypsy wagons in Chicago.    If I remember correctly, they were "pots and pans" salesmen...

@SportyShorty07 That sounds like a yummy creation. Similar to what we used to do in Brownies many moons ago. Anything Hersey is ok by me Heart

Lol, I was hoping there might be some other mobile sellers in different areas.  The Rolling Store strangely enough according to mom kept the same prices as their actual grocery store.  I was kinda surprised they didn't figure gas or convenience into the pricing factor.

She said most people usually "traded" my granny's word for shopped,  at their Store in town and it may have been good advertisement and brought in other customers.🌸

Wow. I've never heard of these store but very interesting.

I can imagine my aunts and uncle may have experienced these stores looking at the old country dirt roads and fence types back in the day.

Thanks for sharing.

@Estellee  That's so cool that you were a Brownies Girl Scout! I buy the cookies from the troops that sell them outside of the grocery store.  Yes indeed, anything Hershey's is ok by me too Smiley Happy
