I've been reading/posting in this forum for awhile and just thought,

who are we (the customers) who think someone should wear their hair this way, dress this way, look this way, wear their makeup this way?

The Q is selling product, the host (either female/male) shouldn't be judged one way or another due to their personal stylings?

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

I made my living for many years giving my opinion. Companies depend on customer's opinions. The hosts represents the company.

I agree; the host does represent QVC. I don't know if I'd call it "judging". We're all entitled to our opinion, & can express it without being mean-spirited.

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

I think everyone is judged by their appearance to some degree.  TV personalities more than most because they're in the public eye and very visible.  They say a potential employer can decide to accept or reject an interviewee in the first 30 seconds, just on appearance.

When you become a public personality you put yourself out there and better get used to both criticism and commendations.  You need a thick skin to take the criticism, much of which is always unfair.  It goes with the territory.  Maybe hosts shouldn't be judged but the fact is... they always will be.

The Q, like any company with a forum, blog, etc...gleans a lot of data from posts by customers. It also boosts their ranks in search engines. The hosts should know it's part of the territory...and opinions....well, they're ubiquitous...

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

@Mistreatedbycs.  As you said these are just customers opinions.   I find no problems with the opinions, especially when the host has asked for them.  Hosts do ask quite frequently about many things.  Shawn Killinger has asked her watchers for their opinion on her hair styles and color, on the color of her lipstick, etc.   I have learned from many topics here.  I appreciate the opinions from people from all over the country.  Our life needs are similar in so many ways.  Our makeup use and style of dress can be so different.

For one many of the outfits hosts say are great for work because everyone is now casual would not be accepted in my office at the college I worked at.  Casual Friday was June and July only. You could wear dark new looking jeans with a neat top, jacket or sweater.  We were the face of the college to all who visited.

I like reading the opinions when given in a courteous manner.  I do not respond or read the responses that are unkind and rude.  We have the choice not to read or respond to unkind opinions.   There are QVC moderators watching who usually close out the mean topics.  Sometimes they shut down the individual and sometimes the whole topic if the meaness get to out of hand.

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

Some of the comments can be nasty...but there are times when the hosts ask for our opinions..a host just asked for our opinions recently.

QVC needs to have a dress code in place..clearly there is none in place..and some folks push the envelope...they can do whatever they want. on their own personal time...but when selling a product/ on air they need to dress appropriately..and stop some of the foolish antics.

Some of the outfits I like..just not for on air sales folk/personality.

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

What QVC needs is a supervisor for the hosts who has some gumption.  It's obvious they're walking all over somebody with their demeanor and appearance.

Hosts on other channels aren't nearly as loosey goosey as those on QVC.  For one thing, they need to knock off the phony hugging and kissing everyone.  Where I worked that stuff would get a stern sexual harrassment lecture, innocent though it might be.

They need to quit the silly chitchat about friends and relatives, and try to impart some of what we need to know to make a buying decision.  Along that vein, the hosts should do their homework and be fully familiar with what they're selling.  Some obviously are seeing it for the first time when it's rolled out to be presented.

I don't know that a formal dress code is necessary but there should be guidelines and common sense.  You don't wear ripped up jeans to present a vendor's sequins and applique type of clothing.   Your fingernail polish shouldn't outshine the jewels being shown.

This shouldn't have to be mentioned but flirting with guests of the opposite sex,  comments loaded with sexual innuendo, and bathroom humor should be grounds for immediate termination. termination.

These are just a few of my observed needs for improvement.

Um.....no.

"All of us" canNOT express our opinions without being mean-spirited and deliberately crude and junior high insulting.

OR

If one doesn't literally lack the capability, i.e. they demonstrate otherwise that they possess sufficient vocabulary and intellect to express their opinion without being mean-spirited yet still do express it rudely, crudely, with malice aforethought, then it must be...deliberate. Yeah, that's it. Deliberate. Oh my. 🙀

Re: The Q Customers Opinions

I have never seen any clothing that was inappropriate on any host or vendor.  Thank goodness society is now more casual and the antiquated "rules" of proper dress are pretty much gone.  There are still some areas in business that do have dress codes and those that choose those jobs know and generally are ok with it.  These are sales hosts and  dress in the fashons of the day - not the old fashioned business style of dress that some still cling to!!!  What does it matter as long as they are bringing in sales which is the purpose of any company that depends on sales?   Those that criticize are in reality only a small percentage of those who post here and an even smaller percentage of those who actually purchase here! anyway!
