I happened to catch it yesterday for the first time. It's no different than all the other talk shows in my opinion. Seriously, how many issues are there to talk about that haven't been done before. I would like to see a home decorating show with Nate Burkus back, or something to that effect.

On 9/15/2014 Vivian said: I also like Meredith but dislike the show. What is it supposed to be...a game show, a Queen-For-A-Day sob fest, a celebrity interview hour? It's everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
This is the problem in a nutshell, and it's the same one Katie's show had. I actually liked some of Katie's topics but going from organizing her closets to interviewing a family whose kid has progeria? ...from those who are physically disfigured to the latest Hollyweird "it" girl? Are you kidding me?
Apparently, one of the biggest challenges for today's talk shows is at least the semblance of continuity.

Tried it a couple of times. She's trying too hard to be Katie AND Ellen.
Not going to happen. Not going to watch either. Katie got really good, I thought. I like
the in-depth news segment especially. Go figure, I'm a tad tired of Ellen as well.

I like her show. It reminds me of Bonnie Hunt's old talk show, but I think it will suffer the same fate as Bonnie's show did. It's a syndicated show and many of the stations airing it have put it in a bad time slot. There aren't many people tuning into daytime talk shows at very weird hours. When the show doesn't get good ratings then the syndicators will drop out and the show will disappear.
Meredith is trying to do exactly what Bonnie did and that's make a show that appeals to her and her sensibilities and trust an audience to find her. It's easier to do a highly controversial show (like Maury Povich, Jerry Springer, etc.) and reap the ratings, but a good, general interest show covering a variety of topics will take a while to find an audience and build a following. I'm not sure she'll be given that time.
