We finally found a theater showing this movie, and it was excellent! Colin Firth is almost a sure-bet for the Oscar for an outstanding performance.....Portraying King George VI with his stammer had to be particularly challenging for an actor.....

Helena Bonham Carter, also excellent as the young "Queen Mum".....I thought she really looked the part.....Geoffrey Rush was also very, very good in his role as the speech therapist Lionel Logue.....

Interesting bit of casting.....Jennifer Ehle, who played Eliz. Bennett to Firth's Mr. Darcy was cast as Logue's wife, Myrtle.....

The movie really captured the period feel of London during this time.....Dark, grim.....

Some interesting casting with well-known faces: Anthony Andrews as Prime Minister Baldwin, Michael Gambon as King George V, and a blonde Guy Pearce as King Edward VIII (David, who married Wallis Simpson).

This was playing at our local art-house theater.....Tiny, small seats, not-so-great sound quality (sound bleeding from screen next door), but we enjoyed nonetheless.....Can't wait to own the DVD.....

I asked DH how he liked it, he said it was "good".....I said "Good for BBC or just good?" and he said "Just good".....So, maybe other DH's will like it too.....

Please enjoy before it disappears or doesn't make it to the local multiplex.....
