I'd love to skip from Black Friday to New Year's Day. Christmas is my least favorite holiday.

@Desertdi  Do you live in Arizona? If you do, I'm jealous! It's our favorite state; the Southwest is gorgeous, lovely weather, and soooo much to see and do. In CT we're freezing, snow coming on Tuesday. Ugh! I love AZ!

@mrshckynut  I think those two love bugs have been posing for photos behind your back!!!  Making extra money for catnip!  lol the black one is really a clone for photo. How cute.

I'm not a huge fan of this time of year---I used to work in retail and it was sheer horror as the customers were more nasty than nice---had a few excellent ones but, wow--rude and sellfish for the most part. And then I also had a toxic spouse who was the essence of BAH HUMBUG and who would rather sit  in his offfice and smoke weed as much as he could--Got rid of that creep in 2022. So actually that made it possible to get to enjoy things with my family more. Altho not an over the top thing either. Am always so glad when it is all over, tho.

It is normal for the way we celebrate holidays to change as we age. We grow up, leave home, marry or not, add friends and family, lose friends and family, often find ourselves far away from loved ones over the holidays.

I don't find it sad or tragic to be alone on holidays. I've got decades of wonderful memories and usually text and/or talk with friends & family a bit. I'm working on new ways to celebrate and make new, very different, but just as nice, memories.

Lost a son 26 years ago to cancer and for the 6 years prior to his death, he fought a very brave and hard fight. Since then, I have dreaded holidays. And, I have no grandchildren. I always tell friends that I would like to go to sleep in November and not wake up until after Jan. 1st.

@Sapphiregal I am so sorry for the loss of your son, no parent should have to bury a child.

I've been alone for a long time and the holiday season hasn't been easy. It took some time to get used to being alone, finally, but I still have my moments of grief and longing for family togetherness. Life goes on.

I just wanted to wish everyone who celebrates a Merry Christmas, especially those who are alone for the holiday. I have a list of my traditional holiday movies I like to watch every year which will see me through tonight and tomorrow.
