I live in Florida and I do not find that senior citizens tend to wear trendy clothing much. We tend to dress in the classics. Most seniors are on pretty short leashes - finance wise- and can't be going out buying all the latest trends each year. The clothes worn on Golden girls are pretty much the epitome of what was trendy at the time that show was being made. I always laugh at the hairdos as now a days no one wears those bouffant hair dos anymore.

I could be wrong, but WASN,t BOB MAKIE the designer?  If so, he still sells on QVC.  Has three shows coming this weekend.   I still matchy  matchup.  My era,  Those were the days we dressed well.

Bob Makie was the stylist for the Carol Burnet show not the Golden girls show.

I think Bob Mackie has been the stylist for many TV shows.

Yes, I liked the Golden Girls too. What a funny show. Blanche was my favorite one. Golden Girls really seems to span generations. My niece and daughter absolutely loved that show too.

Yep.  There's just something about it that appeals to women of all ages.

How old were they supposed to be?

I still dress like I did in HS, jeans and t-shirts usually.

I think they were supposed to be in their late 50's or early to mid 60's.

@Plaid Pants2   Thanks, that is what I thought.  I'm 57.  I can't imagine living with 3 other women.

@Mellie32 those shoes that Bea Arthur wore were called Muckalucks. Yes they were pretty ugly, as were her clothes.

I thought Rue's clothes were just beautiful. She was on QVC several times with her line of clothing and lingerie called "A Touch of Rue." I bought a blouse from that line, and it was made so well and durable. I wore it until it was no longer in style, and then donated it in absolutely perfect condition. It's probably still going strong.
